24-hour urine collection?

Who has done one? My doctor is making me do one now due to my elevated BP (which has been steadily rising) and hte fact that I suddenly am all swollen. How soon did your results come back? I have to do bloodwork after I turn in the pee.

Needless to say, I will NOT be going to work tomorrow. As a teacher, I am pretty sure no one will appreciate me keeping my pee jug in the faculty lounge.

I did two during my pregnancy. The results usually came back within a day or two. They just judge the level of protein in your urine to see if you are PreE. And make sure you don't miss one. THat apparently invalidates the results. So yep, you've got a fun day ahead of being housebound and peeing in a jug.

A tip from a friend? Get a bed pan or cooler or something and put tons of ice in it. Keep that in the bathroom and keep the pee jug in that. Then you don't have to run back and forth to the fridge, not to mention you won't have to have urine in your fridge! : )) Good luck!

I did one about 4 weeks ago. It was a pain to have to deal with the jug in the fridge all day, and I totally hear you about not going to work. I didn't leave my house during the 24-hour period I was doing the collection (which wasn't a big deal given I'd been put on bedrest). I think the results came back within a couple of days. I haven't had to do any more 24 collections since then but I have been doing bloodwork weekly since getting put on bedrest.
