    Great job TSA.... HmmConfusedConfusedIndifferent

  • I know it's not Thursday Stick out tongue but this is something that I have a very unpopular opinion on... I just don't care  about this whole TSA backlash and the things they do at the airport don't bother me in the least.  I just look at it like flying isn't a right it's a privilege and I wanna be safe when I'm flying so I put up with all of the rules, no matter how dumb they may be (and believe me, I know how dumb they can be.. just on my last trip to and from San Diego with my 80 year old grandma we both got pulled aside for "random" screenings and were patted down and our luggage was gone through piece by piece... the whole shebang)  ... the woman probably knew the rules about liquids and what not before even heading to the airport and chose to disregard them because she felt she was above them.  I can't stand that thinking.  nobody is above the rules, if you don't like it... drive.

If you read the article it says that yes she did know the rules and she printed the TSA guidelines from the TSA website. She followed the rules and told the security people before she went through the machines that she had the milk and wanted it manually tested per TSA regulations.

They refused. Sorry, if TSA says that they can do it, they better.

eeeeh yeah, I read it.  especially the fact that she's a lawyer, the whole thing (to me) comes off as her just trying to get in the news..  and of course.. it worked.

like I said, I know my opinion is unpopular I'm not trying to convince anybody because I don't actually care all that much either way.  all I know is if it was me I'd have just thrown it away and gotten on the dang plane so I could see my baby and feed them the milk in my boobahs..

I get what you are saying but I think it is crap if you are allowed to do it, and they are refusing, why should you have to throw away 12 ounces of baby gold because they are being jack@sses.

haha the term baby gold still makes me giggle.  I get it, honestly I feel sorry for the TSA because it's their job to be jack holes, ya know?  and real quick about the kid with his shirt off on the news show I saw it on they said that dad took the kids shirt off, not the TSA. if the TSA took it off that'd be all sorts of wack, but frankly IMO the dad should have just prepared the kid for a patdown and left it at that.  I just don't like when people make things into a bigger deal than they need to be when it comes to that sorta thing.  they're the ones holdin up the line!

in all seriousness, I gotta get off the internets, but I really do see both sides of the story.

Meh, the baby gold thing is just a little over the top to me.  12 oz - just dump it & get on the dang plane.  If it was THAT hard for her to pump a whole 12 oz of boob juice, maybe she should've declined the trip. You chose to fly, they can, will and have made people throw away lots of perfectly good things before, so it shouldn't be a surprise.  Just because there are guidelines doesn't mean that any of it is a guarantee.  I agree that flying isn't a right, it's a privilege.

I think they could've handled it better, but in the long run I think BOTB is correct & the woman was clearly going for attention over the actual substance in this instance.

I agree with you here, but I still think it is a load of bs. They told her she could put in small containers and that would be ok after she already wait for 40mins and missed her flight. Why does it matter what it is in if she followed the guidelines. I don't know to me it is like telling a diabetic they can't take their insulin on the plane. Yes that maybe a little extreme but if it is considered a liquid medication it shouldn't matter what it is.

I get that she's a lawyer and she has probably been through this a couple times and she knew the rules. Yeah maybe it was set up to show how TSA employees are taking things to extremes beyond TSA guidelines. But regardless of whether or not it was set up the principle remains.

The rules were set up by TSA, a breastfeeding mother (lawyer or not) researched the rules, printed the rules and followed the rules. She was put into a cubby hole for a long time and she repeatedly asked what could be done to get her through. No one answered her. Then with 5 minutes left til her flight left they come up with this scheme and would require her to go through the machines AGAIN. She already went through them once and was patted down. Did they think she shat a bomb in the cubby hole while they weren't looking??

  • I give the side-eye to those (some close friends) who say "I don't really care about this.  Would you rather fly with a terrorist?!"

    1) This is a violation of your 4th Ammendment right.  That is a huge deal.

    2) These new screening methods are not effective.  Period.
