This morning I called to make an appt for Fri so I could be seen before we leave for 10 days. The nurse just called back and said that my Dr. HIGHLY recommends that I do not fly! She said I am high risk and flying would increase my chance of a miscarriage. Ugh!! I don't know what to do!! We have been planning this trip for a couple of months but more importantly we have had a year of medicated cycles a lap and IUI's to get this baby. DH's mom has alzheimer's and has recently moved into assisted living. We are supposed to help my bil and sil go through her house to get it ready to sell. Of course I feel like I should take her advise but I am torn and feel like I should be with our family too. Has anyone elses Dr. been this cautious about flying?
ETA: I will be 5wks when we are supposed to leave.
Re: My Dr. doesn't want me to fly :(
I'm not a doctor but I've NEVER heard of flying restrictions this early.
You don't even share nutrients with the baby yet.
And it's not like turbulence is gonna dislodge it.
I'm confused.
I'd do a bit more research before I went that extreme.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

I've never heard of such. I flew to miami when I was 32 weeks, and I had been treated for PTL at 24 weeks and was on procardia. I was worried I would feel some pressure or something during take off and landing but I felt totally normal.
It's a tough decision now that you've been advised against it even though the risks seem minimal to me, I have no advice on that aspect of it.

My doc had no problems with it, I flew to mexico and back at 7wks. I'd ask to talk to the doc and get some specifics.

Hi. I'm lurking from PgaL and PgaIF - here's the thing - it is so early on - what can they do if something does go wrong? Nothing. So I say go and take it easy when you get there.
Do you have a blood clotting disorder that you need to be on medication that flying is, otherwise, contraindicated? Or any other health concerns that would prevent you from flying if you weren't pregnant? If not, I think its crap and I would, personally, go.
I got my BFP after 30 cycles, losses, etc while on a trip (flew to this place, got my BFP in the middle of our week trip, and flew home). I was likely implanting during our flight TO our trip and like 4.5 weeks on our way back. I have a 2.5 year old asking for more peaches right now .... its that baby.
Just my 2 cents!
In the minority as usual, but my dr won;t let me fly before the first u/s. I think it isn't just me either. I think my RE tells everyone that, but not sure people always listen. I had to cancel a vacation when I was newly pregnant with my DS. Ugh, I know it sucks.
I am high risk, but honestly myu RE doesn't know my pregnancy complications, so he tells all patients that.
I didn't do it and believe me I really wanted to go on a mini vacation with DH. I had a 2nd tri loss a few months earlier and I needed a break.
