Anyhow, we had a follow-up visit with our pediatrician this morning. She hadn't received the records from the children's hospital yet but his neuro exam and everything looked good. She called tonight after reviewing his records and final EEG report.
His EEG was "mildly abnormal" (there were several times
when he had an unusual wave pattern when he got drowsy) ETA: and "inconclusive," but the neuro
is fairly confident that Alex's seizure was an isolated occurrence. The
best guess is the seizure was triggered by low blood sugar (due to not
being able to keep anything down the previous few days) plus dehydration
and then the mild head trauma when he passed out and fell. Rare that he
stopped breathing after the seizure but most likely (and hopefully)
that will not happen again either! No further follow-up unless he has
another seizure in the future.
She did suggest, if he's vomiting
in the future, to give him full-strength Jell-O, Popsicles and Gatorade
(G2) rather than Pedialyte to try to keep his blood sugar from dropping.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers last week!

*Sigh of relief*
I missed your last update, and was more than a little worried about the word "final" in the title. Glad to see that it's the final update because things are looking up. Hope you never have to deal with that again.
Oh no, I'm sorry! I didn't think about it sounding that way. I'll try to revise it.

I was thinking about you and your family, especially Alex.
To be honest, I couldn't remember your SN or your LOs name and every time a poster posted something like, "Update on our LO..." or "Update: (Insert Childs name)" I was looking for your familiar siggy to find out what happened.
I'm so happy everything's okay!!
Ah, I just spotted this (scrolling through "My Posts") so I don't know if anyone else is checking this anymore. Thanks for asking! I think DH and I are both still pretty exhausted (especially since we had the stomach bug ravage our household during and after Alex's hospitalization so we're still trying to catch up on everything). I had an MRI this morning and on the way to the hospital, an ambulance came up behind us and had a hard time getting through because traffic was basically at a standstill on the highway and everyone took forever to figure out how to move out of the way. I had a posttraumatic stress reaction just watching that--panic and that helpless feeling I had came back. Made me realize I hadn't really processed everything that had happened yet but I'm OK now. Just praying it never happens again!
