pediatrician in Northville/Novi?

I know this is asked all the time, but I didn't see a post for my area in particular. I need to start thinking about a pediatrician. We have HAP, so we can pretty much go anywhere, but I would prefer close to home in Northville. So, rec your doc and tell me what you like about them! Thanks :)

Re: pediatrician in Northville/Novi?

  • We go to Providence Park Pediatrics in Novi and see Dr. Newcombe.  She is AWESOME.  We love the practice and her.  We hardly ever have to wait, they are quick, answer all questions.  Plus they are open on Saturday's and open late 3 nights out of the week.  The nurse line is also very helpful.  As a first time mom I called quite a few times with questions and they were awesome.

  • We also go to Providence Park Pediatrics but see Dr. Miele.  She is also awesome and we really like her and the practice.  Knock on wood, we haven't had to go there too often but so far nothing but good experiences!

  • We're Providence Park fans, too! With two kids, we've seen almost every doctor in this practice either at the doctor visit after birth (both kids were delivered at Providence Park), well-child visits, or when DS had a horrible double ear infection last spring. Our favorite physician is Dr. Newcombe, who like the other poster said is ALWAYS very caring and willing to answer any questions honestly and professionally, but also takes a little time to talk to the kids. I never have felt rushed either in the office or when calling the nurse line. We've only had one bout of sickness, but I was impressed that they were able to schedule us within 40minutes. The downsides: 1)this practice is BIG, so there are some times that we've had to wait longer than I'd have liked, and 2)we always schedule fall and winter well-child visits while we we're in the office b/c they get busy w/school physicals and flu yuckiness these times of year. But, I don't think those are out-of-the-norm for pediatrician offices.
  • So ... another one for Providence Park and Dr. Newcombe. Ha. We've been going to her for about 2 1/2 years. She's very easy to talk to. I like the larger practice b/c you can usually always get in to see somebody at the last minute. I love, love the nurses line. The downsides as stated above--with any large practice--scheduling physicals can take a few weeks (just try to schedule in advance) and when illness season hits ... the office is very busy. We waited an hour to be seen last week. But that's not usual.

I like offices that are connected to hospitals, especially with infants. When we took DD into the ER one night, her records were with her doctor the next day for our follow-up.
