Do I say something?

I'm already "that parent".  I have complained before....  I send 2 bottles with Luca to MDO.  I really only needs one, but I worry that he'll need it and it won't be there.  They always try to give it to him and he drinks an ounce or two and leaves the rest..  Here is my situation.  They put the bottle with the remaining milk in it back in the back pack.  No cap, no lid, no nothing.  I send it with a travel lid and they put in the parts (we use Dr. Browns).   I also put it all his feeding items in a zip lock bag.  They just throw the full bottle into the back pack.   It leaks everywhere and I have to clean out everything and wash the back pack every time.  I know it's stupid, but it's a lot of work to clean up for something as simple as dumping the bottle, capping the bottle, or putting it in the bag and zipping it.  Sometimes they put it in the bag, but never zip it..  Today I got formula on the seat of my car...  Should I say something or just deal...

Re: Do I say something?

  • I would say something. They probably don't realize that it is spilling, and that's an easy fix.

  • Oh heck yeah. There's no sense in that. What bottle wouldn't leak with no sort of cap on it?

  • I would say something..... I use the same bottles and my MDO actually washes her bottle out after she's done and puts it completely back together, including the travel lid.  This way there's no drying residue in the bottle, they also wash out her little compartmental bowl and lid that had her lunch in it.  My MDO is awesome!

    good luck!

  • Another vote for saying something.

Cause you can really just say something like,  sometimes my bottles leak on the bag on the ride home, can you please put them in the bag and zip it?  or something.  Almost as if you are blaming the bottle, so they don't get defensive?  If that's what you are worried about.

  • Um, I would totally say something. It's not like you are being an overbearing mother.  You just don't want to clean up after their mess.  I would send an email, then if it continues to happen I would make a production of taking it out of the bag while at the day care.  Can't it go bad though?  That can't be good to smell or have in his bag [even if you did clean it]...

You know, I said day care but I really don't know what an MDO is...

Mothers' Day Out. They're just like day care, but usually only partial days and a few days a week to give mom some free time or time for part-time work.  They also rarely take infants.

  • I would say something or just stop sending it.  I would be annoyed as well.
