We started with oatmeal last week at 4.5 months. It seemed to make them really constipated, so I've only been doing it every other day. I'd like to get that sorted out before we launch into veggies. Another couple weeks at least.

Based on our pedi's recommendation, we started veggies a week after we started rice cereal. Then a week after that we added in a fruit. Now, every 4-5 days we can start a new one and test it out, but so far DS has had no reactions and loves all of it!
We have been doing rice cereal for about 3 wks and just started avocado yesterday. We will be introducing oatmeal, barley, grean beans, squash, and sweet potatoes in the next few weeks. We're going the introduce a food and then wait a few days before introducing anything new so that we can pinpoint the food if she has an allergic reaction to something. That's what our pedi told us to do.
This website: www.wholesomebabyfood.com has a solid food chart that is organized by food groups. I have been using this as a guide. Their age/food guidelines are a little on the conservative side which is fine for me.

This. We started with rice cereal, DD hated it so we switched to oatmeal and she LOVES it... we started veggies and fruit probably a week after the oatmeal. Every few days we do something different. DD loves fruits and veggies LOL its so cute she gets all excited when she sees the bowl... she gets excited when she sees food in general LOL.
Since we started oatmeal at 4 months, I am progressing slowly into other things. She did oatmeal once a day for 2 weeks. Now we will do it twice a day for 2 weeks. Then we'll do oatmeal twice a day and a veggie, doing one new one a week.
