I think it's weird that he got them painted. I don't think it's weird that he got a mani or pedi though. if DS ever wants to come with me to get his nails trimmed and filed I'll bring him along. I don't see the big deal.
It's not my style (I never go for mani-pedis), though if DS begged for one I wouldn't refuse. But they're celebrities, they can get away with anything.
I don't think it's odd in the gender role sense, but the idea of getitng a child into mani-pedis (or any expensive spa treatment) leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Granted, I don't ever get them, so this whole scenario is foreign to me.
If being a math nerd is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
That is different. I think it is odd he painted them. It will be expensive if he gets a mani/pedi all the time. I don't think I would take DS with me to get it done.
I actually don't see the harm. If his mom gets them frequently, why not let him tag along. Better she spend that time with her son then leave him at home. And if he asked to get them painted, I think it is better to let him do it than tell him "No, that's only for girls." Not a big deal IMO.
Not weird. I don't think boys/men getting mani/pedis is weird at all. At his age, I'd let the nail polish slide- he probably sees mom getting it and wants it too. As he gets older he'll probably opt out of the polish. But even if he doesn't, there are worse things.

This! DH goes normally and just asks that they don't message. He even gets a glossy coat. It keeps them looking clean. !

In regards to gender, I haver no issue with it whatsoever.
If it were a special occasion and my son or daughter wanted it done, I would gladly take him or her. But I wouldn't make it a regular thing, just because of the expense.

I think the nail polish looks weird...especially since it's all different colors, and on his hands and feet. I've never seen a man (even the punksters who paint their nails black) with their toe nails painted.
When I worked at summer camp, we would have themes for the week, and each week had a colour. We would all paint our toe nails - and by the end of the summer ALL the guy counselors were participating too.

His parents are rock stars. There are a zillion weirder things that could be happening there.
Whatever. I wouldn't talk my son into it by any means, but if he asked, I'd take him.
