I'm loading my Reader and need some suggestions. Anyone read anything good lately?
Fiction please - I'm realistic about how much processing my brain will actually be able to handle in the next week or so and non-fiction requires me to actually pay attention.
If you're looking for something to read:
Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
Freedom - Jonathon Franzen
Re: I need some book recommendations....
Carolly Erickson (very well-known biographer) has a series of fiction books that are worth looking into.
"The Last Wife of Henry VIII"
"The Tsarina's Daughter"
"The Secret Life of Josephine: Napoleon's Bird of Paradise"
"The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette"
"The Memoirs of Mary Queen of Scots"

I love, love, love historical fiction - particularly if it's based on non-fiction so I'll look into these for sure!
No...I haven't read them? I'll give them a look, what type of books are they?
They are paranormal romance. A client that recommend Outlander also recommend these too me. I

Cool - I'll look for them.
Then I recommend I, Mona Lisa by Jeanne Kalogridis. I loved it. Also, The Help by Kathryn Stockett is really good.
In that case, check out The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe. It's set in 1990s Boston and during the Salem Witch Trials. There are many characters based on real people and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Philippa Gregory books are good fun, too.
Hilarious! I am embarrassed to say that I've read them all. My girlfriend recommended them. Basically, it's like the Twilight series for adults. Very soft-porn-esque type of love scenes. Each book in the series focuses on a different "brother" (vampire) who is in the Black Dagger brotherhood. Pretty good trashy reads. Definitely readable with a newborn constantly distracting you.
LOVE the Outlander series so I'd also recommend any of the Philippa Gregory books - historical fiction. Also check out A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin. I'm not typically a 'fantasy' type person but these books are really great - really strong male and female characters. Plus the series is coming out on HBO in 2011 so you'll get a jump on it
I bought but haven't yet read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Looked interesting!
You should definately read the rest of the Outlander series BUT they are a lot to process.
Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner is a fun 'mommy' type novel.
The Help
Hunger Games series (I push these bad boys all the time!)
Oh yeah, I've read them...more than once.
I will definitely look into the Hunger Games series, sounds like they're your Outlander series. I swear I've loaned my books out about 100 times now.
Oooh, good call on the Philippa Gregory books! I randomly read Meridon on vacation last summer and really liked it.
Ditto Philippa Gregory. I loved the book I read by her, and I want to read some more!
