Awesome, I officially HATE my OB. She perscriped me Ibuprofen when I feel pain from my endo. She know's we are trying. She is the same idiot that told me to go on Lupron for 6 months to supress the endo. Ugh!

Can you ask her about using Tylenol instead? I just got Ibuprofen today because I had a root canal but I am going to switch and use Tylenol.
Boy, I have gotten some personal experience with this issue this week! I dropped a pot lid on my big toe on Friday morning. I have been taking Tylenol like it's candy ever since, particularly since I had to shove my giant purple toe into a semi-dressy work shoe this AM.
My mom and I hedged and ummed when my stepdad kept asking why I was insisting on Tylenol and not ibuprofen right when it happened.
It's good to see this posted though - stuff like this is always helpful, I think, particularly to remind newcomers or those who haven't read the newbie post.
I'm a total ibuprofen junkie. Maybe this explains why I am O challenged. OP, thanks for posting.
Me too. I always run for these when I need a pain reliever. I'm wondering now if there's a link between my longer cycles and my Ib use! I'm staying away from it now.

She said Tylenol is okay but it won't help with the inflamation. Gggrr.. I am just annoyed that I have been taking it. I honestly am done with my OB. Like I said she wanted to put me on Lupron for 3-6 months to supress my endo. Why would I want to do that? So I can come back off of it in 3-6 months only to STILL have it? We are trying to get pregnant what is the point of that. Besides it not building up over the next 3-6 months but where does it get me in the end. Talk about confusing!

Well I feel like an idiot. I even knew it could interfere but totally forgot. I actually took one (800mg) earlier for a massive headache. I fail. At least I'm not in the 2ww yet.
Yep, though if you do have bad pain, be careful not to overdose on Tylenol!! It's processed through the liver, so too much is no good. You can ask your doctor about alternating. Tylenol is considered the "safest" in hospitals because it doesn't present the interaction risks that the other pain relievers do, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily the best thing to take at home.
Sml, changing doctors or getting a second opinion if you feel it necessary is never a bad idea, but the advil and the lupron suggestions don't seem so far-fetched to me. Particularly if you have a lot of pain. Lupron can actually shrink endo. JMO (of course I'm not a doctor but I do have experience with endo).

Sorry edited because I went and read the article and found my answer! That is crazy. Dang..maybe thats a reason I can't conceive
I used to be too, now I take asprin when I have a headache which is like everyday. Does asprin cause any harm?
Yes, it can. If your headaches are that frequent, ask your doctor for advice. (S)he may be able to prescribe something better or teach you strategies to prevent the headaches once you figure out what's causing them.

Thanks Sulfa! I think I will tough it out for now No more asprin haha. I take Lexapro I wonder is that matters?

Thanks Sulfy! I am definately getting a second opinion from a RE! I am in a lot of pain but I really don't want to go on Lupron, I am petrified of the side effects. I actually have a follow up with my regular OB (the one who did the lap surgery) tomorrow. I will ask what stage it is. I haven't talked to her since I had the surgery, tomorrow is my follow up appointment.

I have cut back way back on my ibruprofen since starting TTC and totally avoid it during the 2ww.

I JUST found this out right after I O'd. I went out and got some Tylenol. I alternate between Aleve and Tylenol if I have a headache (I get at least one or two a week, not migraine, just like sinus') I've been trying to relax and just not take anything, but today I just HAD to pop one Aleve because a storm front is on its way.
It sucks because I really only get relief from Advil...but oh well, its a sacrifice!

Wow. I wish I my sinus/pressure related headaches would go away with the pop of one pill. You're lucky.
From what I understand, Tylenol is the only safe pain reliever, Sudafed (pseudophedrine or whatever, not the other one) is the only safe cold medication, and Benadryl (plain, dye free) is the only safe allergy med. I don't know if those are safe for TTC or just pregnancy, but that's what I'm going off of. I'd rather under medicate like a pregnant woman than over medicate and hurt my chances TTC.

I never adjusted my ibprofin use while trying to get pregnant but swiched to tylenol after I got pregnant. I also had very short cycles and used ibprofin a lot for migraines so I don't think using it would mean you have longer cycles.

If ovulation is delayed (which ibuprofen can do) then your period would be late which would then result in a longer cycle.
Re: I was not aware
Yup. You're not supposed to take it while pregnant either.
