Since i was going to buy something, i wanted to be able to wear it for work too. I opted for a really cute maternity dress jacket/blazer from nordstrom mat. online, black dress pants, and a big necklace. my shower was at a country club so it was in keeping with the dress code but something i could still wear for work meetings, since the blazer itself was kinda on the pricey side.
I actually wore a summer sun dress for my first shower. It was at the end of Oct and was actually a really warm day. I have another dress from target with 3/4 in sleeves and I will probably wear that for my second shower.

I wore cute black leggings and a long sweatervest! My first babyshower I wore a cute summer dress and it didn't go well! Remember...you'll be opening presents for a while and mingling non stop so make sure you're comfortable!
I wore this top from LOFT with a pair of black pants from the gap. Pants were a must for me, because I opened most presents that were on the floor between my legs while sitting in a chair. I think a dress would have shown everyone my underthings!

Thanks ladies! I went shopping at Destination Maternity today and got a sort of silk-material top with black and white flowers on it. I'm thinking I will wear it with black pants, and put a black cami under it because it's sort of low cut, and a black cardigan over it because it's short-sleeved. Not sure about shoes, but I'll figure something out.
Hi Emily - I wore this dress (knee-length, short sleeves, bow above the belly) to my shower this weekend:
I definitely second a lot of the advice already -- go for something comfortable (you'll be in it for a while). If it's a dress, go with length because you're sitting and opening presents and miniskirts don't really work in that position. I would recommend trying to find something that kinda shows the belly off a little in a cute way -- like my front bow -- because that seemed to be a big hit, people liked taking pictures of my belly and commenting on it -- it's what they came to see, after all! Sweater dresses and leggings are also a great choice, as a couple people already said. Good luck on your shopping trip!

Good luck & enjoy your shower!
I wore a sweater dress (looked just like this but with long sleeves= https://www.apeainthepod.com/Product.asp?product_Id=157660022&MasterCategory_Id=MC3 )
Mine was in November, just a week or two ago, and it worked because it was really cold here.

My shower is next weekend as well and I am going to wear a red maternity dress from H+M with black tights and black boots or black booties.
