3rd Trimester

second time moms

I know they say before your water breaks or labor is about to start that you feel weird.  I was if you can explain "weird or different".  I am feeling lots of pressure and my tummy kind of aches.  I am easily out of breath. and it takes lots to breathe.  I don't know how to explain it I just feel not like myself.

How did you feel before you got the major contraction or water breaking?

Re: second time moms

  • I actually felt great that day.  I went out for a walk at lunch and remember feeling fine.  We did have a bomb threat at work that day where we stood outside for awhile, and that evening I felt crampy but just figured it was from standing so long.

I woke up at 2 am with my first contraction, and it went from there.

  • I am no help, I had an emergancy c-section at 35 weeks last time.

I don't even know what a contraction feels like....

  • I went into labor early Saturday morning. I felt absolutely normal all of Friday, that I can remember. Nothing special or different or weird.

I can say that this time I have been feeling weird and achy in different places for the last 2 weeks and still no real labor or baby. :(

    Good luck!

  • I felt fine for 2 days before my water broke. Nothing out of the ordinary. I was asleep when my water broke. Sorry I'm not much help!
  • I just *knew* that I was going to go into labor.  I'd had my membranes stripped at 9 that morning and I just felt kind-of "weird" the rest of the day.  I started having timeable contractions around 4:00.  I worked like a madwoman and stayed late getting everything wrapped up.  I didn't say a word to anyone about being in labor -- I didn't call anyone or tell my co-workers -- which isn't like me...I'm normally kind-of an oversharer, but I was in this sort-of "zone."  I went to Marshall's and then the grocery store and then came home about 7:30pm and hauled in the groceries, scrubbed out my 'fridge, did a couple loads of laundry and cleaned up the house a bit.  H came home around 9:30 and I told him to shower because I was in labor.  We got to the hospital around 11:45pm (after I showered and dried my hair) and DS was born at 9:02 the next morning.
  • I had gotten my car seat inspected and went to Costco and felt like I had 2 legs dangling between mine. He was REALLY low. I kept thinking I had to pee. It was the most I had done in a few days and when I got home to pee I lost part of my mucus plug. Called the Dr, went over but still not dialated at all. Next morning I lost the rest of my plug and contractions started then. Sadly they came and went the whole 1st 24 hours and got increasingly stronger as the day went on. By 3 am I was begging for the hosptial and drugs, had my epi by 7am, son was delivered at 8:38pm
  • I'm no help either.  I had no idea I was in labor.  I went to the doctor for a scheduled appointment only to find out I was 5-6 cm dilated and having contractions 2-3 minutes apart.  Needelss to say, OB sent me straight to the hospital!

The moral of the story is not everyone knows they are in labor!
