Pregnant after a Loss

Finally a birth story (team green) PIP

Hi ladies!

I had my little girl on 11/5 so this took a while...  My due date was 11/15.  At my 38 week appt I was fingertip dilated which was all I'd been for 3 weeks.  Thursday night 11/4 I was sitting on the couch about to make dinner and I felt a small gush of fluids.  I sprinted to the bathroom and felt leaking, but not a huge amount.  I called the OB who sounded like she didn't quite believe me, but DH and I got ready to go to L&D.  We got to triage around 10:30 and though I failed one of the tests to check for amniotic fluid and the nurse wasn't sure on exam, lab tests proved it was my water.  I had kept leaking, but still never a lot of fluid.  I was so afraid they were going to tell me I peed in my pants and to go home!

They started pitocin at midnight. DH slept a bit and I frantically called and left messages at work to wrap things up.  I asked for the epidural around 2:30 am-best decision ever! I got it about 3 and was then checked and was at 3 cm.  I thought that sucked and that I'd be in labor all day Friday!  But thanks to the epidural I was able to sleep for 2 hours.

I woke up at 5 with a totally different pressure -like I had to poop- and asked to be checked again and I was at 10 cm! They called my OB and she was there within 20 minutes.  I pushed for an hour and Sophia was born!  My OB was amazing, I think she massaged me the whole time I was pushing, but I did still tear.  Finally I'm feeling recovered from that though.

Hearing she was a girl was just the most amazing thing. I am so glad we waited to find out, and I think it made it fun for the nurse and doc to guess with us too. We are so so so in love. Hope to see you all on PAL soon!
