I am breaking up with my friend after 26 years

Please feel free to flame her when you read this.  Over the years she has always been self-centered and I've bypassed that.  This is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

She has been a teacher for the past 15 years.  She has a sibling set who was introduced to her class recently.  It's a combination 4th and 5th grade class.   She found out that the mother of these two children has AIDS and this dumb broad is taking it out on the kids. 

I really can't believe her (but then again I can).  The student turned in a paper signed by the mom.  Teacher informs the student to just go place it on the desk.  She didn't want to touch anything the mother did.  While she is talking to me, she absolutely knows she is wrong.  The students had pizza one Friday.  Teacher didn't partake of the pizza.  When I asked her why she said, "Because those kids ate it."  I was infuriated.  I told her that she is entitled to her feelings but it's her actions that count.  She cannot treat these kids this way and get away with it.  Evidently she has talked to many people and they all disagree with her.  Her own husband told her "It's not like she'll come to your classroom and rub blood all over you."

This is the worst part so bear with me.  Teacher told her principal that she does not want to be in the same room as the mother during parent teacher conferences.  The principal compromised by saying she'll hold the conference in her (principal's) office.  Teacher can come in quickly to give a progress report and leave.  Teacher says, "It might not even matter because parent teacher conferences are in February and she might be dead by then."  How freaking insensitive can you be?  Aside from being a teacher, she is also a mom.  How would she feel if someone ostracized her children?  I couldn't care less how the woman contracted AIDS nor does it matter to me. 

I couldn't say too much to her because I had the flu last week when she called.  But the more I think about it, the more my heart breaks for those children.

Like I've said before, she has done some really crappy stuff over the years.  I will be calling her to tell her that I can't associate with someone who is so heartless.
