Trying to Get Pregnant

Post Ovulation Suspense Sucks!

Hi all, I'm pretty new to the board and have only been TTC since going off the pill after 11 years in September. Started charting in October having read that awesome book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". What a wealth of information! I have a 12 year old daughter and an almost 11 year old stepson and have been married now for 8 months. This is the first cycle where I'm pretty sure I ovulated (excellent quality CM followed by thermal shift) and I know that's a good thing but the suspense is killing me! So I'm 10 DPO and have taken a couple of those so-called early pregnancy tests, the ones that you can take 7-10 DPO but so far, no dice, just negatives :-(  I want to believe that it's just too early so that I can test again later but part of me is starting to get a little dejected if I'm indeed not pregnant despite having intercourse 2 days before ovulation, the day of and the day after. I wish the tests were able to detect an actual fertilized egg and sooner because waiting around for 16-18 or more days of higher temperatures is tough. Anyway, "whining" over.

Re: Post Ovulation Suspense Sucks!

  • Yes it is hard! Keep in mind a few things: HPT accuracy rates at 7-10DPO (found in the newbie link at the top of the board); and that every cycle if you do everything right, you have a 20% chance. Sobering, right? Watch The Great Sperm Race on YouTube - that also highlights a lot of the hurdles to getting pregnant. There's a 2WW post every day where posters like you can share stories and get advice from each other post O. I'd recommend posting there :)
