What do you do with your newborn when they are awake? I try to keep him engaged, walk him around, show him things, take him for walks, but there is only so much I can think of to do. I try reading to him too. Seems I run out of things to do. I realize a newborn really can't "do" anything so I'm struggling to find things to do with him while he's awake.
Advice???
Re: May be a strange question....
Before my DS was 7 weeks, he was pretty fussy and not easily entertained. Now, I spend the day talking to him, bouncing him, and listening to music with him. He likes when I put him in my sling and wear him during chores. We take walks pretty often, sometimes I'll tell him what we're doing, but mostly he just likes to take it all in. He plays in his bouncy chair when I'm making breakfast, but I talk to him and eat with him. I put him on a blanket and he will just check out the ceiling fan for a while.
I don't feel like I need to keep him entertained constantly. I wear him a lot and feel like he learns just by being included. I watch his face and he seems so interested in everyday things, so I feel like I'm teaching him enough.
