eye patching help?

we're patching GB's eye right now but the patches we bought from the ophthalmologist suck, I'm reinforcing them with medical tape and even then she sometimes gets it off after just an hour :-P just wondering if anyone had any good ideas of how else to make them stick or a better brand they know of? (I havent looked at walmart or target yet but plan to, or make my own?) thanks!

  • I have heard the Nexcare brand ones are good. You can find them on Amazon. We bought some for DS but ended up not using them yet.

  • we used the Nexcare junior size patches for DD; they worked fine.

  • I think these are what my sister has for my niece.  She's 5 though so the patterns give her incentive to keep them on.
  • We also use the Ortopads.  One word of advice though...the representative told me they recently changed the adhesive they use and they respond to body heat.  I noticed DD was complaining when we took them off.  The rep said to put a cool wash cloth over top of the patch before taking them off.  It seemed to help when we tried it.

The other tip I stumbled upon with these patches...I noticed the adhesive seemed to go right over top of DD's eyebrow.  We fold down the top of the patch before putting it on.  We've never had any issues with them falling off even with the top side not sticking to her face.
