Cupcakes from Sam's Club

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if Sam's Club, Costco,  and BJ's are all the same but my guess is they are similar.   We would like to have cupcakes at the shower.  We tried a gourmet cupcake shop over the weekend and we were not impressed.  Very expensive muffins basically.   I can make a better cupcake out of a box. LOL   However my mom and sister don't want to do that for the shower--basically due to time and distance.

I have tried Sam's Club sheet cakes and numerous parties over the years but have never had their cupcakes----they make them fresh to order but would like anyone's input....Have you had them?  Vanilla/Buttercream?  Are they good?  For 30 cupcakes its $13...seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Any opinions would be great.

  • Sam's Club are good, especially for the price.  Most people that I have seen use them add a little something to decorate them ...  at a bridal shower, they used added a chocolate heart to the top.
  • Delicious!!!!  Food Lion (at least around here) also has very good cupcakes.

  • We just got them for a company party last month - fabulous! I was really impressed.
  • We have a Sam's and a BJ's in my area and the bakeries at both just suck. Any cakes and cupcakes I've had from both are really dry and the icing is sickly sweet. But that's not to say that the clubs somewhere else aren't fine.

You might want to ask around your area (can you ask co-workers what they think) or pick up a little box of cupcakes and test them out for yourself.

  • I love all those cupcakes...Sam's Club, Costco.  Yum.

  • I think Sams Clubs and cupcakes are pretty tasty..Costcos cakes are good but their frosting is so, so sweet. Sugar overkill!

  • If you like the sheet cake you'll like the cupcakes.  I order them all the time for work and they always turn out great.  We did 390 for our wedding reception for my students and their parents (I'm a youth leader and couldn't afford to invite 200 students and families to the actual reception) and they were a hit.  You can choose frosting colors and very cheaply add a little decoration to suit your needs perfectly.  And seriously, you can't beat that price!

     Good luck and have fun!

  • I've had Costco cupcakes, not Sam's Club, but they're delish!  Keep in mind they're huge (which isn't really a bad thing!).

  • We actually had Sam's make cupcakes for our wedding reception. We had invited a bunch of people and that ended up being the most cost-friendly option for cake. A friend of mine made a small cake for us to cut, but the guests all had cupcakes. They were SO good and were made fresh for us. Someone picked them all up that morning.

This exactly, they are very big but yummy and always fresh.

  • We got cupcakes from Sam's Club for my friend's shower that I helped to throw and they were a hit.  The only thing was that we got yellow frosting, since she didn't know the sex of the baby, and it was a really bright, ugly yellow, not the cute pastel yellow I was hoping for.  They tasted good though!
