First/Middle Name order debate... HELP!

So, DH and I have finally kinda sorta maybe but not sure picked out a name(s)... Neither name we have 'chosen' are what we would consider run of the mill, and we're ok with that (that's actually what we're looking for).  But now we can't decide which name we like for the first name, and which for the middle name...

ok, so here we go... we have the name Gage, and the name Thorsten (which if we used as a first name we would probably call him Thor).

DH is mostly German, as is our last name: Thorsten is the name of someone that DH and I met on our honeymoon from Germany, and we just love the name.

Gage is the name of the little boy from Pet Cemetery (kinda creepy, but I still love it).

My question is: what name would you use as the fist and the middle?

Thanks for the input! :)

Re: First/Middle Name order debate... HELP!

  • Gage is wayyyy better than Thorsten IMO.  I had a student whose name was Thor and a bunch of teachers gossiped about how strange his name was.  And if teachers are making fun of it, who knows what the kids were saying about it...

  • Hmm, I like Gage better.  Will you pronounce Thorsten with the "Th" sound like most English speakers will or with just the "T" sound like Germans would?  If the latter, you might consider dropping the "h" altogether as I think Torsten is also a German form of the name.

  • we are def leaning to use Gage as the first name (it's been my first choice since we found out it's a boy), but I know DH loves the name Thorsten, so that's why I'm stuck...

We would pronounce it with the 'TH' sound - I don't mind a German name, but I feel like we should stick with American English pronunciation... DH agreed with that part.

  • THORSTON GAGE 100%. DH even said, "it works better that way". Plus there are 900 Gage's compared to Thor's.

Love it. Love how it's different, and I love how there's a story behind the name.

I like Thorston Gage, can you do a clicky poll to see what people like better that way? I had a friend named Thor growing up, he got a lot of extra attention (the good kind) because of his name. Mostly from the ladies. Too bad he was gay, because I seriously would have hit that.

Well, I wanted to, but I seriously have no clue how, and my patience wear thin quickly these days, so I decided it wasn't worth a crying fit trying to figure out how...

  • While I'm not a fan of the nickname Thor, I think Thorsten Gage flows much better than Gage Thorsten.
