clingy baby = messy kitchen

DS now insists on being attached to me in some way at all time. The only thing I haven't figured out to do with my new koala baby is clean the kitchen. He seems to gravitate to the sharp knives, or try and make my cups bounce.

There must be a trick to this, anyone want to share? If I put him down he screams until I come get him again... help

  • Wear him in an Ergo or other pack on your back so your hands are free and he's still being carried.  DS is going through a really clingy phase now too.

thank you, I knew I was having a dumb moment. I'll have to go unbox the moby

  • I let him play with Tupperware or stack tuna cans. He can play in the kitchen while I clean the rest of it.

I do something similar.  The kitchen is baby proofed enough for me to let them loose while i cook or clean.  Honestly (and maybe bc i have twins i feel this way) but i only have 2 hands and sometimes they need to learn to be independant.  its ok flame away but i think a little screaming is ok.  If it means keeping them safe so you can complete a task i think its ok.

  • This is exactly why I pulled out my Ergo again! I often have to wear DD2 on my back while I'm cooking and cleaning the kitchen....

Either that, or I sit her in the high chair will a snack or with crayons and paper. She's happy for a good while like that :)
