Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Our last can of formula

We'll be finishing up our last can of formula today and switching over to whole milk.  Jillian has no idea that her "baba" is going away.  She does very well with drinking from sippy cups, but the whole idea of no longer giving her a bottle is kinda sad for me......

Re: Our last can of formula

  • That's a good feeling! My SIL said it felt like she got a raise when she no longer had to buy formula!

(and we still do a morning and bedtime bottle with whole milk . . . Embarrassed)

  • We still do a bedtime bottle with whole milk too. Its the only way Ben sleeps
  • I just switched out the bottle with a sippy of milk before nap and bedtime. He drinks it for five min and then I rock him to sleep. Well now that he is about to be 2 we dont rock anymore but that worked wonders for us getting off the bottle.

  • yay! Not having to mix formula is amazing! I hope taking the bottle away is easy for you, We are on a sippy at night, but once it's time for bed he will throw a sippy. So he still gets a bottle for bedtime and his nap.
  • Yay for no more formula!

Just a word of advice ... sometimes the switch goes more smoothly if you get rid of the formula and still allow the bottle with whole milk in it instead. And then slowly move to milk in a sippy instead of a bottle.

My DD refuses to take milk out of her sippy.  She wants her sippy at meal times with water only.

She's almost 15 months and still has a 10 oz morning bottle and then another one in the afternoon after her snack b/c that is the only way she will take milk.

GL to you!  Hopefully your transition will be a smooth one!  ;)
