First off, I LOVE all things holiday, but I think last year was my favorite Christmas for so many reasons. It was my first married Christmas and DH and I have started our own traditions. I had my nieces and nephews over to bake cookies which was a hoot! It was just special being with my whole family.

My dad waking us up at 3am screaming that Santa just came and left us presents is my favorite memory. We would open presents and then go back to bed, wake up later and have breakfast. One year we got a Nintendo and wanted my dad to hook it up at 3am haha

When I was younger, my uncle had moved to Chicago and we didnt' think he'd be able to make it for Christmas. My cousins had a HUGE box and when they unwrapped it, he jumped out! He had been sitting in the box for 30 minutes lol

She had been really sick and going through a lot of testing, and she was blessed with a great day for Thanksgiving.
She was attentive, smiling, and excited over the Thanksgiving meal, which was a blessing considering some days during that time she would barely get out of bed or interact with anyone.
She was diagnosed with brain cancer, and passed 6 weeks later, so it is a bittersweet memory, but I feel so blessed for that last good day that she was able to have!

The year I got my Andy ( I named it )doll for Christmas. I wanted it soooooo bad but my mom had refused to buy it for me in the store. Christmas eve morning it turned up under the tree. I still have that doll and I have every intention of giving it to my little girl some day.
It is mildly creepy that I married a man named Andy, so my husband doesn't like the doll, but I love it
When we were younger, one person would get a big present. (We didn't have a lot of money at the time) The person who got the big present was sent on a hunt. It started with one clue that was put in the Christmas tree, and there were usually 3-4 clues.
One year when I was in middle school it was my first hunt, and I got a brand new purple bicycle!
Not that it is a favorite, but one of the most embarassing holiday moments EVER. When I was like 11/12, my mom realized it was time for a training bra. Well, we are at my aunt's house for Christmas and had just finished opening gifts. Then, my aunt says "Look Cindy, there is one more gift for you!" She throws it at me and says Santa must have left it. Of course, everyone is looking at me wondering what it is and to my horror, the last gift is a freaking training bra. I could have killed my mother!! An of course, my cousins, brother, uncles and father all start making fun of me. Great time to get your first training bra.
My mom once alluded in front of the whole family (grandmother, aunts and uncles and all) that my brother masturbates. This was initiated because her SIL (we're too close in age to call her my aunt. We're about 5 years different) was talking about her baby who "just found his penis." Mom doesn't have a very good filter...
More of an ongoing tradition than a memory - I love putting up the tree and thinking about each ornament as it's taken out of the box and thinking about what it means, how we got it, etc. It's a great time to get a little sentimental
