Babies: 0 - 3 Months

1 month old still a crappy sleeper

And I am SOOOOO exhausted!!!!!!! She never sleeps for more than an hour, 2 in a very rare instance. It is getting very frustrating. I have tried everything with her (white noise, swaddle, no swaddle, swing, bouncer, etc etc etc) and either I just can't figure out what she likes or she is a night person. This is mostly just a vent but if anyone can relate, please share!!!

Re: 1 month old still a crappy sleeper

  • DS1 never slept more than 2 hrs until he was 6 months. It was terrible! I thought I might go insane. I tried everything and I know now it really does just depend on the kid cause I have done nothing different this time and DS2 sleeps great. I can't imagine it if was reversed though and I had to try to function in the day with my toddler on so little sleep, let alone twins. Good luck, I hope it doesn't last much longer.

  • remember that 6 months compared to 18 years is nothing!!

  • I hope she starts sleeping soon.  Neither of mine are good sleepers.  DS2 just started going more than 2 hours at night.

  • This may not help since you have two other LO's to take care of...but DD sleeps pretty well on my chest.  I don't get the best sleep ever but I do get some sleep.  She started out on my chest last night and then after she was asleep went into her crib.  She woke up a bit early and so I put her back on my chest and got to sleep for another hour and a half.  HTH and GL!

  • Some babies get super duper hungry during the night. Last night we loaded Evan up (he took in double to triple his usual feeding amount - he didn't want to stop!) around 2 am. Then he slept for a full 3 hours. I woke at 5 am, changed and fed him again, then he was out for another 3-4 hours. The night before, he was so alert and cranky, and I thought it was gas or something. Turns out he is just ravenous late at night!
  • My 10 week old is a crappy sleeper and I have a 2.5 year old to care for too.  It SUCKS!!!!!!!

  • Yes. It took until about 6 weeks for me to get a 3.5 hour period of sleep. She was mostly doing 1-2 hour stretches. After 6 weeks things got a bit better. Now DD sleeps for about 5 hours until her first night feeding (she goes to sleep at 6:45pm), and she was going 3 hours until her next, but now she's back to 1-2 hours after that first feeding. I don't go to sleep until about an hour before her 1st night feeding (when DH is out to sea I need those hours to decompress before bedtime!).
  • Thanks for replying everyone!

  • do you BF or FF?

my LC said to make sure LO eats every 2, 2 1/2 hours during the day, even if he's asleep to wake him up to eat. then he'll sleep 3, 3 1/2 hr stretches at night.

     GL!

My LO will only sleep on my chest. even if he is fast asleep as soon as i put him in the ARCS he wakes up
