  We did! Thanks for checking in and THANK YOU!! for all the helpful suggestions yesterday.

  Tim trekked down to the main road where he caught the bus. He got some chains, missed the bus back and had to wait almost an hour for the next one. Then came the ordeal of getting the chains on the car - by himself - first time - in the snow. Poor guy.

  We left at 3:30. We took you alternate route suggestions (thank you!) and it wasn't too bad until we hit the I80 on-ramp in Truckee. Holy traffic Batman! We shimmied down Donner Pass Rd and got on the freeway there. The next few hours were white-knuckle times - wwere moving at not more than 5-10 mph. If diriving conidtions weren't bad enough there was ice frozen on the windsheild wipers. I opened the car door every 10 mintues and leaned out to clean off my side of the windshield. Tim reached out the only working window in our car and snapped the wiper a little too hard and it broke off. We were dying laughing because the whole thing really couldn't have gotten more ridiculous if we had tried. Luckily, we had a squeegee thing in the car and he reached out every now and then to clear the windsheild with that. We were in stand still traffic just before Gold Rush - that lasted a good hour. Accident, I hear.

  We got home at 12:30 am. We are exhausted and happy to have survived the trip. I am at work now and nobody can ever accuse me of not being dedicated to my job.

  WOW! What an event! Makes an excellent story after you have lived it though! Could be in the next romantic comedy hit film! ;-)
