Allergic reaction?? PIP - blisters on face

This is the second time that this area of her face has flared up, the other time being after we tried blueberries. Last night she had mango and woke up to this. Its worse than last time and has spread to her other cheek. My mother however does not think it is food related. I will ask the dr tomorrow, I was just wondering if anyone on here could tell me something today.

  • Appears to me to be some sort of an allergic reaction or irritation, could be it contact and not food related??

My DD has only been on solids for a month, and so I haven't had any food related issues yet :::: knocks on wood:::::: but my friend has a DS who has food allergies, and his looked similar, but worse (completely covering his mouth and cheeks). With your DD I can't say for sure, but I would make sure to document it like you have and ask a pedi as soon as you can like you said. As a precaution,  I would also keep checking her and make sure her symptoms don't get worse.

    good luck :)

  • Thanks, she sleeps on her back still an only rolls onto her side towards the end of the night so I don't think it could be from any sort of rubbing.

Its just strange because when she eats the food mostly is on her chin, and there are no marks there. I'm wondering if maybe it can be an absorbic acid reaction? Normally I make her food but I use the pre-made when we go out, and this has only happened with the foods that have that added to it. She seems to love those the most though!

  • That looks like an allergy - it used to happen to me every now and again although I never figured out what caused it.
  • it  looks like a drool rash to me. g had one. just put aquaphor on it a couple times a day and it should clear up.
  • Our daughter had something similar right before she cut her first tooth - only it was ALL over her face.  Just a thought.
  • It could be from drool. Especially if she sleeps on her back and the drool is running out the sides of her mouth, and she's waking up with it.
  • No help here...but let us know what the pedi says!
  • Yes looks like a mild allergic reaction to me.
