BF-ing/Pumping moms

Can you please recommend your bottles? I am planning on buying the Tommee Tippee Newborn Starter kit, but I honestly know nothing about bottles. I have never even fed a baby with a bottle lol. The reviews look pretty good, but I would like to be sure that this will be as untraumatic a transition as possible. I plan to continue breastfeeding, but her father would like to feed her some, too, and she won't take the left side, so I would like to pump for that reason.

P.S., I have the Medela Freestyle pump, if that matters.

  • I have the tommee tippee bottles and so far so good.  DS is naturally a gasy baby so I cant tell you if they contibute or not.  They are easy to clean and we have not had any nipple confusion.

  • We had to use a bottle of expressed mikl on day 3  because of latch issues and we used the playtex drop ins with the wide nipple.  Z we able to then go between that bottle and the breast with no problems.

Ditto.  And I love that the Dr. Brown's bottles fit on the pump in a pinch :)

  • When I had to supplement with DD I was using Nuk bottles. Aside from the fact that one of the three bottles I got was defective (didn't have any holes in the nipple for milk to come out) they actually encouraged her to go back to the breast because she had to work at it just like the breast. I still give it to her from time to time when she gets the hiccups but isn't hungry but they just have water.

  • We use Playtex Drop-Ins and did with DS as well.  Neither kiddo has had a problem transitioning between breast and bottle.

  • I have the Medela single Swing pump. Once in awhile, I use the bottles that came with it to feed her with. Otherwise, I use Born Free glass bottles and Dr. Brown's glass bottles. I prefer the Born Free ones but only bc they are less of a pain to wash.

  • I use Tommy Tippee bottles.  The LC in the hospital recommended them.  No problems yet.  I have a Medela too.  Ella gets 3-4 bottles a week so far.

  • Born Free bottles! Love them! No nipple confusion or gas trouble with them, ever!

  • I also am using the Tommee Tippee, LO has done great with them from the start.  He was in NICU and they had me bring in my bottle from the beggingn to make sure he liked them. He did :)

I love the shape they are easy to hold. Right now I am using the started kit.

just FYI, BRU has Born Free 5oz bottles for $1.99 online right now. I think it's part of their cyber week (instead of just cyber Monday) sale. So you could grab a few just to have. That's what I'm doing since they are so cheap!

Did your pedi ok giving your newborn water?  I was told never ever give a baby water....

  • I had to start supplementing when LO was 1 week old.  We use Tommy Tippee bottles and LO has no issues with nipple confusion and does not have gas issues either.  The bottles are easy to clean as well.
