Typical Monitoring CDs to monitor you on Clomid

Hello!

I am currently on CD 1 of AF and I will be taking my first clomid pill on Monday. Can someone tell me when I should be going to the doctor to be monitored to see if I have follicles or to see if I have even O'd? I am wondering b/c I took Provera to get AF and like I said I will be starting Clomid on Monday evening and I am not going to the doctor for my annual and check up until Dec. 16th which will be my CD 20. Is this too late? Or is this the normal time to monitor someone on clomid? Thanks.

    Sorry if this is a dumb question, but wouldn't you have asked your doctor about this when you were prescribed the Clomid?  Or your doctor would have told you what the game plan would be?

    It's not a dumb question at all..My doctor had been talking about this for a few months but then my DH and I went on a cruise/vacation for 3 weeks so that put clomid on hold. Therefore, since I never get AF on my own my doctor gave me provera to jump start AF and it worked like always. This is my 4th time on provera so it wasn't anything new. However, he called in the clomid script knowing I would most likely get AF on Provera that I didn't think to ask him about the monitoring until I started reading some people's posts on both of my TTC forums. He had told me to start taking Clomid on CD 3 and that I could have side effects, and a bunch of other stuff but this specific topic didn't come up so I figured I'd ask the forum.

     

     I didn't think I was asking a dumb question, or else I wouldn't have asked. Therefore, I figured I'd ask people's opinions to see if this was normal or if my doctor might have miscalculated my cycle.

    No worries.  I'd just be a little nervous because going on Clomid is a serious matter - I would have thought your doctor would have prepped you beforehand.  GL - I hope you get some good replies here!

    I assume you and your DH have had all the necessary bloodwork and infertility tests that should be done before starting Clomid?

    You need a baseline scan and bloodwork on cd3, then monitoring starts cd10-12 depending on your clinic and continues about every other day (sometimes daily) until you ovulate.

    TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!

    I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

    All of this. This is my first clomid cycle and after having all sorts of bloodwork and an HSG, I had u/s on CD2, 10 and 13. This is really something you need to discuss with your doctor. If I were you, I would wait to have your answers before starting it. Good luck!!

    Based on the info you're giving it looks like your doctor isn't really planning on doing any sort of monitoring, which can be dangerous.  Is he just an OB?  You should really see an RE for clomid; many OBs don't take it seriously enough (which it seems to me is what your doctor is doing).  GL to you!

    Thank you everyone for the info. Yes, I have had all of the testing that was discussed in this post and everything was fine. The only down sides was that I have double testosterone and pretestosterone than what I should have. I will call my doctor on Monday and find out why I am not going in sooner for an u/s. Thank you for the feedback.

    My dr does monitoring on start day (sometimes CD3 sometimes she starts people on CD5), then a week later, three days later and then every other day until O is confirmed. And if/when O is confirmed, she brings you in again for ~14-16dpo.
