Trying to Get Pregnant

Figuring out your ovulation cycle after an IUD...

Hello,

M'name's Jessie and I'm new to this board... So forgive my ignorance or if this question is buried somewhere in the list. My husband and I are going to be trying for baby #2 after I get my IUD removed on Monday. (I have had an IUD in since 8 weeks after giving birth to our daughter, Aubriana.) I am wondering if anyone else has had an IUD removed and how they figured out or are currently figuring out their ovulation cycle?

Thanks, in advance, and I appreciate your patience with me! :)

Many of us use FertilityFriend.com to chart our basal temps to pinpoint ovulation, so I might start there. You can click on anyones chart to get there (mine just says chart in my siggy)

You can also use OPK's (ovulation predictor kits) to try and gauge when also. GL :)

  • Thank you so much! Since I have not had a period in over 2 years, I am not sure when my last period was, so I estimated on the site when I joined... I'm thinking that ovulation test would be the next bet: Any words of wisdom on which test to get (and where)?

    Thank you!!

  • I just had an implanon removed in september, which i had had in since my DD was 8 weeks also. We are also trying to conceive #2. I wasnt sure what to expect with my cycles after having it removed because I had also been nursing and just got my first AF in October. I decided to start charting my temperatures this month after 2 failed months of TTC. I know its not long, but at least this way I have info to go off. My cycles so far have been shorter than they were before my DD, and I want to keep track to see if they stay that way or If my body is still readjusting. They used to be 29-30 days long, now so far they are only 26-27 days.
  • no charting suggestions, but I got my period within 7 days of IUD removal.  so it may come back pretty quick so you can figure out your general cycle.

  • My OB had it scheduled to be removed during AF, but I had the Paragard. I assume you have the Mirena? You become fertile after it's removed, so I'd just have sex every other/every few days until you get AF, them start charting. GL.
