Crib move, take 2

So we have 3 naps and 1 STTN under our belts in the crib upstairs. I'm having to nurse him down to accomplish it, but so far so good.

Would it be better to avoid the crying and to nurse down for soothing or should I try to get away from that so we don't make it a crutch? BTW, rocking, bottle, singing, patting, sitting in the glider while he tries to self-soothe is a giant FAIL!

I just worry if I keep that up he may have a hard time going to sleep for anyone else. TIA.

Re: Crib move, take 2

  • My advice isn't really that stellar, b/c we never really had an issue with that sleep stuff. (knockonwood)  BUT I would say to try to limit your crutches. Don't start something you don't want to be doing in weeks/months/years. Maybe change up his nap times a lil? make sure he's good and tired?

FWIW, I suspect he'd go down for others just fine. He's lovin' all the attention he's getting from mom ;-)

  • hmm . . . have you read "the no-cry sleep solution"? i'm just starting to read it . . . it might have some good ideas.

i'm kind of of the opinion that you do what you have to do to have a no-cry solution at first, and hope that the habit isn't too hard to break. i'm not comfortable doing CIO with my LO, though, so it depends what your overall philosophy is.

Let me know what you think about the book. I'm with you. It's getting harder and harder to wrap my brain around CIO.

He actually went to sleep after a bottle with less than 5 min. of fussing (not really crying) tonight, so maybe we're on our way!
