Moving to North Dallas - recommendations?

We are moving to north dallas soon.  My husband is working 2 miles north of downtown off Central.  We are looking in Richardson, Plano, Plano with Frisco ISD, and Allen.  Can anyone give me pros / cons on each of these areas?  Neighborhoods to look at (big house, don't care about old/new, HOA, great for kids)?  Moms groups?  Comments on the commute?  Thanks!

    We live in North Dallas/Richardson - specifically Coit and Campbell. I will never move. We love it. The houses aren't large as they are older but we don't care. We know every single one of our neighbors on our street and regularly socialize with them. There are a ton of kids on our street, my son plays with someone from our block every day.

    techdg26 - I don't know how to PM but I we looked in that area this morning and love it!  Any neighborhoods to look at?  We were told to focus on The Heights, Canyon Creek, and The Reservation.  How is the crime / safety of the area?  We saw a lot of apartments and run down shopping centers that made us wonder, but we love the neighborhood.  It's a lot more like where we are coming from (vs West Plano).  Thanks!  Also, do you know anything about West Plano?  We are considering that area too.  Thanks!
