Few FF Questions & Another Clomid

Hello Everyone:

I am sorry to drive all of you crazy but I am the type of person who overthinks things so please feel free to give me your advice.

I am taking Metformin and have been for a few months but I haven't had any luck, so my dr put me on provera to induce AF. AF arrived around 7 pm last night with slight spotting of blood and then full force throughout the night into this morning. My question to all of you is do I count Friday night as the first night or do I count Sat morning as my start day for Clomid? My dr told me to start taking the clomid on the 3rd day of AF so I am guessing I count Friday night and take clomid tomorrow night, is that what you all think?

Secondly, I have been on/off charting my cycles on Fertility Friend (FF) for the past two months or so but I was away on vacation for three weeks in October so I didn't bother doing anything, I needed a break from it all. Therefore, I took my BBT everyday but then I started on Provera which made my temps sky high and now AF arrived so they are higher than normal, and I'm guessing  I'll be starting on Clomid tomorrow so who knows what will happen to my temps then... I guess what I'm asking is is it worth it for me to keep charting when I never get AF on my own unless it's drug induced? I've gone to the max of FF (70 some days and still no AF). What do you all suggest?

On a side note: How do you get your charts to show up on the bump, when they are on FF? I would like to have some of you look at them and tell me your thoughts. Thanks and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

  • I'd keep charting, especially on a medicated cycle.  (I have no experience with the meds you referenced, but it can't hurt to chart.)

  • You should still see a temp shift on Clomid, so I would continue to temp. As for determining CD1, I've always been told first day of full flow before 5pm. So that would make today day 1 for you. GL!

  • Reinstone: Thank you so much for the info on how to make a TTC chart, I will take it one step at a time before I try to get my FF chart on the bump... lol...

ShannonSky: Thank you for the information so if I am understanding you correctly, If AF would have arrived on Friday before 5 pm then I should count it as day 1 but since it arrived after 5 pm, I am counting Sat as day 1. Is this correct? Also, I don'tknow if you have experience in taking Clomid to get prego or to TTC but if you did take Clomid, did you take the first pill on day 3 of your cycle or day 5? What is the difference? Why do some doctors tell you to take the first pill on day 3 and others say day 5? Thanks for the info.

Yes - Sat would be Day 1. At least according to my doctor's office, others have different opinions, but it's usually something like that. I did take Clomid, I started it on CD3. Starting on CD3 vs CD5 is more of a preference thing, it doesn't really make a difference. Will you be going in for a mid-cycle ultrasound? I hope so, sometimes Clomid can have side effects that hinder your TTC efforts, or you can end up with multiple follicles and run the risk of triplets or more.

  • Thanks for the info. Did you have success on clomid? Anyway, I will start today as CD1 and then I will take the fist pill of clomid on Monday. Does it matter what time I take it? Yes, I will be going to my doctor on the 16th of December for an annual and I guess they will be checking me at that point in time but from what I have read most people go to the gyno half way through their cycle or at least when they are supposed to be O'ing to see if clomid is working. I will be heading to the doctor on CD 20, Is this too late to see follicales, triplets,etc..?? Thanks again for everything! I greatly apprecitate your feedback.

I did not - Clomid didn't get me to ovulate. I have heard it will make 80% of women O, though, so your odds are very good. I don't think it matters what time you take it, but I always did it right before bed. That seems to be the best way to do meds, IMO, so you sleep through any potential side effects. Yes, going in for a mid-cycle ultrasound is important. You need to make sure the Clomid hasn't thinned your lining and that you have 1-2 mature follicles. CD20 will likely be too late for that - you will likely have already ovulated by then. You'd be much better off going in around CD12-14. I did Clomid at the same time as injectible meds, so my experience in terms of scheduled monitoring is a little different than if I had just done Clomid - you may want to make a new post asking what the typical monitoring is like on Clomid.
