Other. Before my very first pregnancy, yes, I did buy a few cute onesies and baby books. Then I miscarried and pretty much wanted to burn those things, so no buying before pregnancy after that. I really didn't buy anything for Anderson at all until I was 20+ weeks.

I picked your second option, but my reason was not b/c of a side eye from anyone. I was "worried" and wanted to make sure I was gonna have these babies before I bought anything at all. I only started buying things when I was about 30 weeks or so. Then we just bought the cribs and dresser. I didn't buy any clothes for them. At all! We got plenty from my showers, which were when I was 34w and 36w, so yeah, didn't buy anything before 3rd trimester.
Other, I bought a pregnancy book, baby bargains, and a few things I found at TJMaxx that were a good deal. It might seem funny to buy a pregnancy book before you're pregnant, but I had never been around many pregnant women. I seriously had no idea what it was going to be like and I wanted to be prepared.
I bought a Notre Dame onsie to tell DH with that I was pregnant with but that was it. I was worried if I bought something that it would jinx myself (I know stupid but still). I even kept the onsie at a friends house till I found out.
I didn't buy anything till after I found out the sex and even after that I had a hard time buying anything.
If somebody was going to give you furniture or something then I'd take it but don't waste your money on the little things right now. There will always be a sale and another good deal.

I voted "no" because it never really crossed my mind to buy anything for a baby that wasn't yet on the way.
When I was pregnant with DS, my MIL asked me if I was OK with things being purchased for the baby before it was born. It never crossed my mind until then to not buy things for the baby. Then she explained that for a lot of Ashkenazi Jews (which is what her family is), it's a really big deal NOT to buy anything for a baby that isn't born yet because it might tempt the evil eye. She didn't really believe in it, but the whole idea kind of got stuck in my head. My husband tried to reassure me that it was just superstition, but I not only didn't buy anything before DS was born, but anything that was purchased was stashed at my mom's house until after we came home from the hospital.
Anyway, with Baby Too, I've definitely purchased things for her, but I didn't necessarily buy anything for her until I knew I was pregnant (and I think I didn't start shopping for her until after 24 weeks.)
I voted "other." I bought two things because I didn't know if I'd be able to find them on cafe press again or not. They were onesies that said, "That's What She Said" and I got one in pink and blue so I'd have all my bases covered.
I bought a pregnancy book as soon as I went off of the pill, and I bought pretty much the entire Dr Sears library as I found it at Half Price Books. The only baby thing I bought though was 2 cloth diapers. I wanted to see the difference between the all-in-one and the pockets so I could decide between them. I used to pull out those diapers and cry because I wasn't pregnant yet.

I also picked "other." DH and I were on vacation when we decided to TTC, and we bought a onesie while there to mark the occasion for the eventual baby. No other purchases until I was good and knocked up, and even then, nothing until I was around 14 or 15 weeks.
