DH and I both have stocking with our names from when we were kids, but I made new ones this year that say Mama and Daddy on them. I figured, growing up my parents stocking always Said Mom and Dad, so I wanted our to as well. And besides, Christmas is mostly for Basil anyways.
DH has his name on it (his aunt made it for him when he was born). DS has the year he was born (it came that way). Mine doesn't say anything lol. When we complete our family, we will probably get monogrammed matching ones, and they will each have our first names.
DH is kind of attached to his, so I think we'll hang the matching ones on the mantle for show, but still fill DH original one with his stocking stuffers for sentimental reasons.
Ours have our names because they are the ones we got when we were first living together. We just do the simple red/white fuzzy stockings and then I put our names on them with silver iron-on letters so DS's stocking matches ours.
Our stockings don't have names on them. They are all different (not matchy matchy), but resemble us perfectly. DH's is jean with a Wrangler patch, mine is a red wool sweater knit stocking, DS's is bright and colourful with a snowman and santa.
Everyone in our family (three humans, three cats) has a mini-stocking that goes on the mantle. We have initial pendants on ours (B, R, C) and the cats stockings are in "their" color - blue, red, green - which match their collars and food dishes. B also has a larger classic Winnie the Pooh stocking that we put his stocking stuffers in, and it hangs in his bedroom.
Contemplating the snow.

Ours just have the initial "J" on them (bought them at Target like that a few years ago) and I still need to get one for DS. EEK! I kept planning on making matching stockings and a tree skirt and it never happened.
I debated this last year also b/c I ordered some from PB and mostly b/c MH has no opinion on any of this (and probably cannot remember anything about stockings from his childhood & does not do that w/ his family as an adult), I went with Mom & Dad for us b/c that is what my parents' stockings said and although we go by Mommy & Daddy now, I wanted stockings we could use for a long time- at my mom's house we still use the ones she made for us as kids, and MH, SIL and kids all just have new ones added to the bunch at her house.
Growing up, we always had the simple red and white stockings. My mom would use glitter to put our names on the stockings. That is what I am going to do. On the stockings it will say Dad, Mom, and C (full name).
