Hi ladies,
Just had a quick questions for anyone who has flat nipples. They gave me some nipple shields while in the hospital. ( still here BTW) They are working really well helping LO latch on and making it easier to feed. However they are leaving places on my nipples. Anyone know of anything to put on my nipples before to take away some of the friction.
Re: Can we talk about flat nipples.....
I had to use shields for a while and I just used a little water on the shield before I put it on. Maybe some Lanolin will help too.
Congrats on your little man!!!!
Thank you so much. DH and I crazy about him. I will try that on the next feeding.
Congrats on your LO! I saw a pic on 0-3 board, the Thanksgiving Day baby w/ tons of hair, super cute!
Anyway, I used The First Years Nipple Butter that I got at Target under my shields and that worked wonders for me. I also used a manual pump mainly to relieve engorgement, but it had the added benefit of drawing my flat nipples out. After 4 weeks of using the shield and manual pump my nipples stayed out for good and I've been nursing without shields ever since. Good luck!!
