Carb Craziness

Howdy all, I am 7 weeks pregnant and before I was eating for two, I was a big ole herbivore. I'm actually vegetarian/vegan but being pregnant has put my will power to the test. I don't even want to look at a vegetable :(

I've always balanced my carbs and eaten a fairly balanced diet, but nowadays, it seems all that has gone out the window. I'm terrified of gaining too much weight to quickly and of depriving my baby of nutrients. Anyone else ever been in these shoes too?

Thanks all.

Re: Carb Craziness

  • Ask your doctor what they recommend for your weight gain. And make sure you're getting iron & protein. Since you are prone to bleeding during delivery you need the iron. And Protein helps develop the LO.

  • This is totally normal for 1st tri. Just do your best, and if you don't get around to stomaching a vegetable until 2nd trimester when your normal appetite begins to return, then don't sweat it. Plenty of women barely eat anythign at all during 1st tri and go on to deliver beautifully healthy babies.

I remember being this way when I was pregnant. Carbs were the only thing I felt I could stomach most of the time. Try to eat the "healthier" carbs,, keep taking those vitamins,  and don't worry. Your baby will be just fine.
