If you removed your bumper from the crib (or never started with one)

did you put one in when your LO started rolling around?  Lisee woke up early for the second time this morning with her head against the top of the crib.  I'm wondering if I should go ahead and put it back in.  If she rolls into it, I assume she'll just roll back..

Re: If you removed your bumper from the crib (or never started with one)

  • I never put one in, but I am thinking of using it now.  DS rolls all around and spins around in his crib, and every once in a while I go in and his head is pushed up against the rails.  DH and I are really paranoid about SIDS and suffocation (and everything else for that matter), so we are still debating the subject.

  • I bought this crib bumper off amazon.com:

I just started using it because my daughter is also moving and rolling around her crib.  It is nice because it is breathable.  Hope that helps!

  • I've never took mine out and always had it there. Now that he is trying to crawl he hits his head a lot against the railing so I'm glad I have it there. At least it is a little cushion.

  • We use the breathable bumper.  I like it because it keeps her limbs in the crib.  I am not worried about her rolling into the sides.  If it is uncomfortable, she will move or cry.  She rolls all over the place and we haven't had any problems.

  • We put it a few nights after we put Logan in his crib to sleep. He's swaddled, so he doesn't move around much, but for some reason he sleeps better with the bumpers in.

I would think the bumpers would make the crib feel more cozy, but I don't know if he really gets that...anyhow; for whatever reason, he likes it better.

He's just over 3 months and they're in now...

  • i had them in, took them out because it was hard to change her crib (she like to throwup yay us) so i took them out, until last week when her leg got stuck on her she rolled over and put it through the slats.

the breathable bumpers are a neat idea but after reading alot of the reviews i noticed that babies can push them down which defeats the purpose of them.

  • we also had to get the breathable bumper once he started sticking his little limbs outside of the crib!

So far we really like it, it seems to fit really tightly and I can't imagine him pulling it down or fitting a limb over it until he starts trying to pull himself up.  I could see if it wasn't installed correctly that it might not work well though.  It was tricky to install and DH had to watch a youtube video on how to install it to figure it out, because we accidently threw away the instructions.
