DH and I just bought a Wii yesterday. We'd been debating getting one for years. Neither of us are really into video games, but we always have fun playing it at friends' houses. Anyway, we each agreed that both of us could pick out a game to buy. He bought some hockey game, but I didn't see anything that really stood out to me. I know absolutely nothing about video games, though. Which ones are fun? Our Wii came with the wii sports and resort. We also bought Mario Cart and Super Mario Bros. I'm not really interested in the whole Wii Fit thing. Are there any other fun games you'd recommend?
Re: Just bought a wii- what games are the best?
You already have my favs
I like Mario Kart, bowling in sports and a lot of the different games in Resort.
We also enjoy playing Wii Ski and my husband plays Tiger woods golf which is pretty fun (but I like frisbee golf on Resort better).

I'm not huge into video games either, but I like the Wii Sports that you mentioned, and DH and I both like the Harry Potter game! We have the Half Blood Prince one- I don't know if there's another one out or not.
Also you can buy right off the Wii (with a wifi connection) all the old school nintendo games! Like Old ass Mario Bros- sweet!
My favorite is Family Game Night. Its board games on the Wii, and SO much fun!! They have Family Game Night 2 and I think 3 just came out. Its a lot of fun to play as a family with the kids and also with a group of adults. I highly recommend it!
Mario Galaxy is definitely a good one!
And...this is going to sound crazy. But my bf loves zombie games and bought House of the Dead Overkill, and it's probably one of my favorite games now. It's point and shoot arcade style and I love playing it with him. So if anyone's guy is into something like that, it might be a nice surprise for him and maybe you won't hate it as much as you'd think
Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Brothers
Mario Party 8
Just Dance 2 is my new favorite. So much more fun than the first. Hard to believe but DH gets into it too because it's a good time.
Besides that I really like New Super Mario Bros & Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 that have been mentioned. I only like Mario Kart when there's several people playing.
If you have a balance board, Wii Fit, Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage and Wii Ski and Snowboard, and Punch Out are top rated games for the snowboard. I love how responsive the Shaun White game is when snowboarding. I know you said you're not into the Wii Fit but you should know it's not a serious exercise program. It has a ton of fun games you can play-- silly ones like snow ball fights, and others like cardio kickboxing where you have to remember the moves.
Someone mentioned the Tiger Woods golf. DH is playing it right now next to me. He really enjoys it.
Thinking/brain games are usually poorly done. If you're into that kind of game try Big Brain Academy.
Most important piece of advice: try looking up reviews somewhere like Amazon.com because the Wii has a ton of games out that are garbage. You have to weed through the losers.
Also, Gamestop has a great deal this weekend- buy two get one free on used games. You can always return used games within the week and exchange within the month. Because of the holidays, you actually have until January 15th now.
