Thought I'd post this under both first and 2nd trimester boards since 2nd trimester women may have gone through this already!?
I've been spotting (brownish) for 10 days now. This past weekend I had some red bleeding and went the to ER. Long story short (you may have seen my other post about the episode), they're telling me I had a "threatened miscarriage" and there was no way at that point to determine what was causing the bleeding. I'm basically on pelvic rest, etc. I have another follow up on Monday for another u/s (had one this past Monday after all the ER drama and there was a heartbeat). I'm just trying to mentally make it until my appt on 11/29! With the continuing spotting it's just making it so much harder to stay calm (which is best for me and the baby of course).
Is there anyone out there going through this or who has gone through it with positive outcomes thus far? I need a little uplifting I've found plenty of articles about 1st trimester bleeding that resolves itself, but I'm still so nervous.
Re: Can't Relax - Daily Spotting for Two Weeks Now
I had daily spotting from weeks 6 until 10. It is hard to relax, I know. Never got any explanation for it. It was mostly brown/dark red and a couple of times bright red. I was told it was "old" blood, but I never really understood where it was coming from and for four weeks, no less! Then one day it just stopped.
So far, so good for me. I'll be 16 weeks on Friday and have had four ultrasounds - most recently the NT scan at 13 weeks - that show everything is healthy.
Good luck to you!
I spotted at 7 weeks for a day and then from 9-10 weeks and 12-13 weeks. Mostly brown spotting, but at 12 weeks it was pink. OB said it was fine, but I am on pelvic rest until the next appointment. LO looks great on u/s, though and I can hear the HB on my home doppler each day!
Good luck. I hope everything tuns out fine
No problem, this is such an exciting and scary time for first time moms (like me). Drink lots of water, relax, & continue with your bed rest. You saw a little heartbeat, bank on that!
Worrying yourself to death won't do you any good. A poster on here said something to this effect that I repeat to myself everyday: "I am pregnant today and I love my baby today"
Good luck to you! Sending you sticky baby vibes!
I am a chronic spotter! I spotted and bled pretty much throughout my entire first trimester, on and off in my second and a few times now in my third. I have had many tests and ultrasounds and they have yet to find a cause for any of it. My anatomy scan was perfect, I have had two ultrasounds and numerous non stress tests since then, all perfect. That said, every time it happens it's scary.
The hardest part is that so early in your pregnancy there is nothing they can do for you and you just have to leave it up to fate. You will be frustrated as time goes on if it continues b/c it seems like they should be doing something to help you but there really is nothing that can be done. Just know that every week that passes is a milestone and you will eventually get to the point where you can start to relax at least a little. Good luck with everything, and like the pp said, drink lots of water and relax as much as possible.
I had the same with a bad outcome -- that being said, they found out (too late) that I do not produce enough progesterone to maintain an early pregnancy, and this pregnancy has been wonderful with progesterone supplements during the first tri.
If they have not already, ask to have your progesterone level tested. It might not be too late to "save" the pregnancy if that is the problem. God forbid, if it is the problem and you lose the pregnancy, go on progesterone supplementation for your next one.
Thanks Quesera! That makes me feel a bit better!
Glad to hear things have progressed so well in your case!
I had a subchorionic hematoma at about 11 weeks, so I bled for a couple days, real bad one night. After that stopped I did spot brown for about 10 days, as the hematoma resolved itself. I'm 33 weeks now.
Maybe you had something similar.
Thanks again everyone.
Well - never a dull moment....lets add cramping into the mix now!! Still spotting (have had another incident of red too) and now, since midday yesterday, I've been cramping! I know cramping can be totally normal during the first trimester, but I guess just coupled with the continual spotting...just worries me. Any more thoughts?
Passed some clots today (nothing with any form or structure to it)....don't think this is looking too good. Contacted the doc on call just to be sure I don't need to go to the ER (I don't unless the bleeding gets terribly heavy or if I get dizzy or sick). She said it still could be a subc hematoma, even with the clots - so....still have to play the waiting game until Monday's appt. I guess.
l really hate to be a downer - but I wanted to give you an update.
I had my appt this morning and they confirmed that I have indeed miscarried. They do not know exactly why (as they typically don't in the 1st trimester). Guess it was just meant to be.
I have my D&C tomorrow.
Best of luck to all of you and I hope to be back soon.
