Trying to Get Pregnant

EPO/Mucinex/Robitussin FAQ's

I have seen a lot of ladies post about their husbands taking Mucinex and/or Robitussin but I am not sure why they are taking it.  Just curious.  At this point, I am ready to have MH take anything that will help Big Smile

Also, what do you ladies take EPO for?  How much do you take?  I am thinking of taking some this next cycle.

TIA!!!

Re: EPO/Mucinex/Robitussin FAQ's

  • I thought that the cough medicine was being taken by women, to increase CM or to make it more watery. I don't take it myself (my husband is a doctor and when I asked his opinion he got all doctor-y and wouldn't encourage me to take a medication for something other than its intention, although I might have to get get sly and just take it, hehehe!).

I do take EPO though, also to increase CM, I take 4 capsules a day of 500mg each (two in the morning and two at night). I only started a week ago and haven't noticed any change yet.

DH is taking folic acid and zinc supplements along with his regular vitamin regime though!

    HTH!

  • I have heard another Bumpie on here say that her DH's doctor recommended mucinex 2x a day (I think a week before O?) in order to thin out his semen. It was discovered after his SA that he had thick semen.

That is interesting! I am going to get DH to look into this more before he just assumes it's my TTC silly talk, lol! Thanks. : )

  • As someone else mentioned that idea of taking medicine for a reason other than its intended purpose makes me nervous.  Things like drinking more water, drinking green tea, etc can give you the same effects.  I don't know a ton about EPO, but lots of ladies seem to have success with it.  Unless my DR knew about it and OK'd it I think I'd skip the Mucinex/Robitussin
