I was just on Facebook and was typing a message to a friend when my message disappeared and Facebook told me someone was trying to access my account, and they had my password. It then proceeded to show me a MAP of the location this intruder was from which was Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
I don't know anyone who lives there and immediately told Facebook that was not me. It made me create a new password, and then it blocked the intruder from my account.
That was creepy!
Re: Weird and creepy....Facebook related.
Are you sure the message came from FB??
I know they have apps that, based on the gps chip in your cell phone, can tell them where you are, but unless the person was accessing your account from their cell phone there's no way they could know exactly where that person was.
It sounds like a bit of a phishing scam to me... where someone hacked into FB or something, pretending to be official FB people, and had you reset your password so they could get your password and access your account.
Did you reset your password directly through FB, or did you do it through a link they provided you?
To be safe, I would log back into FB, and change your password again. That whole thing sounds super fishy to me...
It was definitely Facebook. Well...it looked like Facebook, anyway.
It tested my password strength, had me choose a security question like they do when you first sign up, and had me log back in with my new password.
I will change it again just in case. Thank you!
I agree! I don't think FB would tell you if someone is trying to log on at the same time as you. You would just get logged off because you can only be logged on from one location at a time. Me and DH used to share a FB so that's what used to happen.

Interesting...
Well-- I have changed my password again, so I hope I'm safe.
Completely agree with this. I would bet that it was a scam. Changing your password a second time should fix the problem. Even though it looks as if it comes from Facebook, it may not, just like those fake 'bank" emails and such. Usually it would have to start with a https: to be secure.

Yeah I've never heard of FB having such a feature...this is likely one of the many ways that scammers steal people's passwords. I've logged into Facebook from multiple places myself at the same time and never had anything similar pop up.
Just always make sure when you go to FB that it actually says "facebook.com" in the address bar. Since you changed your password again you should be okay.

Change your password again, I don't think that was from facebook. Facebook has LOTS of virus' linked to it. That sounds like another malware type virus. So now they HAVE your password because you just changed it while that virus might have been active. I could be wrong, but I'd rather be safe then sorry.
The most common one is something will pop up saying that you have a virus and need to buy anti-spyware. But that IS the virus because then it steals your CC info.
