Hey, if they scan me at the airport will they see if I'm KU?

.....I'm sooooooo just kidding guys.  We are flying early tomorrow morning and DH is relaying all these horrible internet myths (or maybe half truths?) about the scans getting leaked on the web, etc. etc.  (he actually was thinking of getting the pat down too!)  Anyway, just got me thinking stupid thoughts....well, that and I'm 6dpo and wondering what going on down the old ute.

    Can the radiation from the machine harm the unborn baby if you ARE pregnant though?  Isn't that why pregnant women are not supposed to have X-rays done?

    Yes and I would not go through the machine, especially on your return flight.

    I used to be an x-ray tech (well technically still am), and from what I understand about the new scanners is that they work off of "backscatter radiation" which means that the actual dose of radiation is very minimal. They say it would take 1000 scans a year to reach the max allowable dose to the normal population. For a pregnant woman, that number of course is lower. But, if you only have a few during your pregnancy, it wont hurt the baby. However, just to be safe, as an x-ray tech, I would avoid ALL radiation if possible during the 1st Tri.

    Yes and I would not go through the machine, especially on your return flight.

    Good to know thanks. I'm flying tomorrow but just waiting to O at this point.
