NBR: ? for those with relatives suffering with Alzheimer's

Yep, in addition to all the other beyond ridiculous sh!t that is happening to me, my dad FINALLY got diagnosed with it and by finally I mean that my mom and I kinda knew he had it all along, but all the docs kept saying, "His brain is just getting old."  blah, blah, blah

He's fine in the morning but then by noon, he gets tired and just looses it all.  Thankfully he still recognizes us, but he completely forgets what day/month/year it is, how to drive, where he lives, when to eat, etc....

Can you tell me where I can find some info on Alzheimer's?  How I need to deal/react to this? and how I can help my mom most of all.

Thank you

Oh, man.  Rom's dad is going through that.  It's so hard.  He had to move her from her condo to a (admittedly really nice) rest home, because she kept wandering off in the middle of the night and being found far from home and terrified.  She's pretty far gone, though.

She resisted the move, but seems happier and less stressed now.

  • i'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm worried I will be soon - my dad's dad had it...and my dad shows some signs.

i have no advice.. i was in HS when my grandfather was going through it and wasn't really part of the loop then.

  • Both my Grandmother & Grandfather are suffering from Alzheimer's.  We believe it's in the early stage because they remember most people with the exception of their middle daughter who died at 48 9 years ago.  They remember her once she is mentioned but only then.
