Has your dosage changed a ton? I feel like I've got a pharmacy in my cupboard. I started off alternating 50 and 75 mg, and somehow my dose always changes just after I need a refill. So right now, I've got 50,75, 88, and 100 mg synthroid kicking around. My dose just went up to 100, so now I'm using up the 50's (taking 2) just to get rid of some pills.
I've officially switched doctors (my usual is out on maternity leave for a few months), and the new doctor thinks checking every 3 weeks is plenty. I'm glad for that - every 2 was too often to really see change from a dose, and it was tearing up my poor elbow veins.
How's it going for the rest of you?
Re: hypothyroid peeps
Mine only checks it every 2 months. My dosage never changed while I was pregnant with DS - which I thought was odd...
My dosage has stayed the same, so far. I take a compound formula...not sure if that makes a difference? My doc said, like another reply, that she will only check once per trimester.
My dosage changed around week 5 of pregnancy. I used to be on 125 for a long time. I went up to 200 (and he switched me from Levothyroxine to Levoxyl), but then he was checking me every 2 weeks for about a month and half. My dosage went up to 250 about a month ago, and has stabilized there now for a while. Now, I get to go 4 weeks until my next check. He's thinking he may lower my dose a little soon, depending on my next check mid-Dec.
ETA: I should add that my Endo is really careful b/c he thinks my thyroid might have been a part of my m/c in May. There's no proof, but I did have a sudden spike just before my embryo transfer for my first IVF. So, ever since I brought him on board after the spike, he's super careful. I think he credits himself a little for me getting & staying pregnant this time! :-)
