My MIL just called asking how our pedi appointment went yesterday. I had a feeling she was going to want to "feed" Ruby when we are there at Christmas time. It's one of the main reasons I brought up solids with the pedi.
So she asks when we can start giving cereals and fruits. I tell her the pedi said not before 6 months at the earliest. She acted heartbroken, like I killed her puppy. Was all, "OH NO!!! That is TERRIBLE to make her wait that long. That poor baby needs REAL food! I was so looking forward to feeding her...boo hoo hoo."
I kept my mouth shut, but seriously. Real food? Oh, right, because breastmilk isn't real food.
Re: I knew it! (MIL and Solids)
Amazing that she's lasted this long without real food. She's obviously suffering because it's so TERRIBLE to have just breast milk.
Nevermind the fact that (if she's anything like my DD) she LOVES the boob.

if you had drugs during labor, does that make your breastmilk fake and unnatural too? AHHHHHH!
this reminds me of my friend's MIL, who gave her 6-mo-old iced tea. and then tried to give him cake and spaghetti. maybe you should put a bell on her outfit so that your MIL doesn't take her in a corner somewhere and try to give her gravy.

This is my mom. She tells me all the time how tempted she is to let Camille gets tastes of this and that.
The other night at dinner she said, 'We should give her a drumstick bone to gnaw on!' (yeah. chicken bone. NO)
I know she'd never do it without my go ahead, but the fact that she brings it up ALL THE DAMN TIME drives me crazy. And Camille is only 3 months old!
She says that by the time I was a month old she had oatmeal cereal in my bottles and 'I turned out just fine'.
