Babies: 3 - 6 Months

EBF's- Anyone else experience this?

DS STTN, wakes anywhere from 4:30am-6:30am to eat. Goes back to sleep, and when he wakes for the day does not want to eat. He is in a great mood, just not hungry. He will begin his E.A.S.Y routine without the E and be ready for a nap at the appropriate time. Once he wakes from his nap he is ready to eat. He is a moose, and is gaining more than enough weight. Anyone else?

  • Yes! This made me realize that he doesn't need to eat in the middle of the night anymore. I have started reducing the amount he drinks in the middle of the night by 1 oz each night to hopefully eliminate that feeding so he will want to eat first thing in the morning! He doesn't seem to mind when I give him less in the night! What time does he wake up in the morning? My Ds wakes anywhere from 5:30-6:30 for the day and will have his first bottle, if he takes it that is! But he also wakes up 2x in the night to eat, so that is why I am trying to eliminate those feedings.?

That's what I did and it worked well for us. DD just made that one feeding progressively later until she was waking up for the day ready to eat.

  • My DD does this. What time does your LO go to bed? She gets up around 4 to eat and goes down at 8 and am wondering if I should try eliminating the 4am feeding.
  • I use formula now, but my son is the same way - he eats in the middle of the night, but when he wakes for the day he's not interested in eating at all.  I think it's pretty normal for babies to have a lower appetite at teh start of the day?

  • Right now he is going down around 8-8:30pm. He is one of those that just refuses to go down any earlier. Waking time in the mornings varies. When I work, he comes to work with me so he is awake at 7:30am. When I am home he sleeps from the wake at 4-5am until 9-10:30am. There is a solid amount of time between the early morning feeding and his wake time. I guess he takes after my husband, and does not have an appetite upon waking. For me, however, as soon as my feet hit the floor I need to eat!
