So, I've been conflicted as to what to do this cycle. Last cycle's BFN was pretty hard on me. It was pretty much the first cycle where I O'ed and had an awesome temp shift, pretty good timing, EWCM and nothing to show for it. I've been toying with the idea of not temping and "relaxing" this cycle and I think I'm going to do it! I keep forgetting to temp anyways, lol.
I just feel that my obsessing over my temps and negative OPKS, etc. is doing more harm than good. Maybe I'll be one of those gals that get pregnant by "relaxing" and "letting it happen." And maybe I won't. I'm just sick of trying so hard. This board has taught me so much about listening to my body that I think I have a pretty good idea of when I O, so I'm not completely clueless.
Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite me in the arse when it's January and I keep getting BFNs and no AF, LOL
Oh and after typing all of this out, I feel like a weight has been lifted. It's weird!!!

P/SAIF Welcome
I know exactly how you feel. When I got the BFP last December, it happened to be a cycle that we decided to take a break from all the charting and OPKs. DH swears it's because I didn't put so much pressure on myself, but I don't know. After the m/c and we decided to start TTC again, DH requested that I not chart or use OPKs again. I'm respecting him now but if we don't get a BFP within the next couple cycles, I'm having a talk with him. It drives me nuts not having any information and each cycle being a big guessing game.
With all that said, I wish you the best of luck. I hope relaxing works for you and you get your BFP.
Hey erma -
I take breaks here and there from temping or OPKs or both. It's good to help rejuvenate yourself. Once you have a pretty good idea as to what your body is doing -- why not take a break???
I'm hoping the break is just what your body needs

I may be wrong, but I THINK that rxy was taking a break from temping and got her BFP.
(someone can correct me if im wrong)
Today is CD1 for me. DH & I decided that I would take a break from temping/charting. I hope it will help me to relax too, plus with the holidays coming I hope that I am too distracted to think about it all.
I agree with you about hoping that it does not come back to bit me in the a**. Good luck to you!
The cycles I took temping breaks, I did do OPKs. I think it is a great idea! I personally enjoyed not temping, it was free-ing. The only reason I am temping now is to have some recent charts if I have to make the big appointment in January.
This month will be busy anyway and you will have too much on your mind to think twice about it! Good luck!!!!
DH is of this mindset now, too. At first he was all for it once I actually started ovulating (due to metformin and actos). But last cycle was hard on him, too. That and everyone we know IRL that is KU didn't temp and most of them were oops babies.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I do want to say thanks to everyone on this board (gee, I sound like I'm writing a farewell post haha). Without the information, knowledge and support I've gained from being on the boards, I probably never would have pushed to get tested for IR or went around my OB to an endo for metformin. And I definitely would have been clueless about looking for the signs that my body is shows when I'm ovulating. It definitely helps that I don't feel as if I'm going into this blindly.

Erma, I think I may be joining you. DH and I talked last night, and he told me it is totally up to me, but that it seems like I could benefit from a break.
I just really don't want to end up like you said, no AF and no BFP. That'd be really frustrating.
GL to you in your break! Hope it brings you a BFP
I don't think temping breaks are bad, everyone needs a break especially if you've been doing this for a while.
Holidays are coming up and you could sleep in and snuggle with YH. I say go for it, put up the BBT for a month!

I'm taking a temping break this cycle. Already, I feel so much less stressed out. I'm glad that I've learned so much from this board and that I have a year of charting behind me because now I am fairly confident in my pattern, but I think I am due for a break.
Now that the RE is monitoring me this cycle, I don't have to be obsessed with when I'm going to ovulate - the doctor will tell me! And I have a fairly good idea of my pattern by now anyway. I am still going to do OPKs though, and maybe check for CM every now and then.
I really hope I don't kick myself toward the end of the 2WW though!

My last cycle I had that exact same thought. I maybe temped like 10 total times and it was all so over the place and I attemped to use opk's when i thought, and none ever really truly showed positive and we only had sex 3 times that entire cycle. Then my period never came. It was a wierd wtf moment in a good way, because I was contemplating just breaking for awhile.
Do it and see how you feel. If you start to get stressed just start temping and using opks when you feel like it.

I will be doing this next cycle, too, erma. We are going on a one week vacation in December and I don't want to temp during that time, so I decided to just skip it all together next month. I'm looking forward to it!
Good luck to you!
I think everyone needs a break every once in a while. I wish you the best, erma. I really hope this works for you. I want you off this freakin' board!

I'm right there with ya. Our new plan is not to see the RE, not take meds, and not chart/temp, or even opk. We reverted to whatever happens happens after the last cycle, which was particularly hard on me. I'll resume the RE etc.. if I'm not pregnant in another 6 months or so, but for now, not obsessing about ttc has been really good for me.
Just wanted to say I love your siggy pics! Your dog is so cute! Mine is a shihpoo and is quite a handful!
