Canadian women- extra ultrasounds

I just got my NT scan done and was told my next ultrasound will be at 21 weeks (about Jan 12). Well, we are hoping to find out the sex of the baby and I am dissapointed that we won't know for Christmas :( I'm thinking of talking to my midwife and seeing if she'd schedule me for one at 18 weeks (Dec 22) and make up some sort of reason or I'm looking at a place like this "Bluewater Imaging", they have an office in my town- I can't tell by their website, but I think they do non-medically necessary ultrasounds out-of-pocket.  If anyone has gotten an out-of-pocket ultrasound (In Canada) how much was it? (I know each place will be different but just curious) and do they just send it to your dr/midwife to tell you what it is, or do they have a doctor there?

    I will be getting a 3D u/s - live in Ont. It'll be 175 for 30mins viewing :) Plus 25 for a heartbeat bear and 25 for the video :D

    What prov are you in? If Ont, I found a great one in Barrie!

    I'm in Ontario but I'm in Sarnia about 4 hours south of Barrie- I'd be willing to squeeze in a trip to London if need be, but I''d rather stay in Sarnia if I can (the one I linked has an office in Point-Edward which is basically Sarnia- it's a village accross the street from me). Do you think at 18 weeks I'd get a pretty good guess at gender?

    My next u/s is December 20th, so no plans for extra. That one starts at $125 for gender.

    I'm in BC, and I'm paying for a 3-D ultrasound for a gender ID on Dec 23rd.  It's 70 dollars, and just a quickie, but it was important for me to know for Christmas.  We might do it again at 25 weeks.  A few friends have done it, and say its amazing.  The bigger one would probably be closer to 150.

    You're almost exactly as far along as me- the place in BC said they should be able to tell fairly accurately at 18 weeks?

    I'm in AB, and you can get them here in Calgary starting at about $125. That;s for your plain old 2D stuff. It goes up and you can add on more stuff to your 'package' from there.

    My midwife said I could schedule my 20 week U/S (I have a headache and I cant think of what its called right now) anytime between 18-20 weeks. She said anytime after 16 weeks (assmuing the baby cooperates) you should be able to tell gender.  I scheduled mine for 19 weeks which will be Dec 17th.

    I would totally go to a "pay as you go" place. I would want to know before Christmas too. Theres one in Hamilton and I think its $99 for a gender screen.  I just googled "3d ultrasound Sarnia" and I got this:

    it's actually in London. A 5 minute gender screen is $99, but there are other packages if youa re interested.  And I didn't find anything else, so I am thinking there isnt anything in Sarnia.  I don't know what border city it is to Sarnie (Detroit?) But maybe you could check there and see how much it is.

    Of the four 3-D places I contacted, only one would take me at 18.5 weeks.  The others said 20 weeks was their minimum, and one was 19 weeks.  There's about four or five different 3D places down here though.
