Who are you crazy people that eat ham on Thanksgiving?

Ham is for Easter.  Like watching Ben Hur and eating the ears off of chocolate bunnies.

Thanksgiving ham eaters get the Blanche Devereaux seal of disapproval.

  • i LOVE ham - but i agree - its for easter!!!
  • Hmmm...I guess I shouldn't judge too harshly.

For years my dad would only eat tacos on Thanksgiving.  He hated turkey.  So his thanksgiving meal would be tacos with sides of mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and garlic brussel sprouts.

  • Perhaps this is regional thing? I've never not had ham for Thanksgiving. And I despise turkey.

  • My husband's family is from Central America and he claims because of that they do not know how to cook a turkey without turning it into something like the bird in National Lampoon's Xmas Vacation. So they always have ham. My uncle cooks venison for T-giving mmmm

Interesting little nibblet on Rue McClanahan/Blanche: She was a member of my tribe, the Choctaw Nation of OK. I had no idea until I saw her obit in the tribal paper.

  • My side of the family tends to do turkey and ham - ham started because my BIL and his kids don't like turkey so they make ham as well.

this year we're spending T-day with DH's family so just turkey for us. (2 of them - one 20 lb on the grill and one 20 lb in the oven!) Lots of leftovers for us!

LOL this, except instead of Turkey and dressing we eat Chicken and dressing. Granny doesn't like turkey because its dry.
