Anyone else NOT doing gifts between you and DH?

We never do.  Everyone seems to think that we are the weirdest people in the world, but we buy what we want during the year, thus leaving nothing to be desired around birthday/christmas/etc.  We will focus our efforts on buying for the family.  Anyone else?

  • We don't buy each other gifts either. If we get anything it is one thing for both of us.

  • We aren't this year.  We usualy just do something small for Holidays/birthdays that they other person likes but might not buy them selves.  Like cologne or parfum.  Last year we splurged and bought a camera for "each other".  Now with the LO and all the expenses this year it seems silly to exchange anything.

  • My husband and I usually don't exchange gifts because every year we seem to be embarking on some big project together.

Paying for a wedding, buying a house, remodeling house, a vacation or two, a baby, etc.   We usually just put what ever money we would have spent on presents for eachother towards our projects.

We do however have 1 tradition.  I buy him a santa every year and he buys me a christmas oranament for the tree.  We are coming up on year 10 this year, so we have both acquired quite the collections.  Its a fun little tradition we have.

  • If it were up to me we wouldn't. But my husband is a big kid and he gets so giddy around Christmas. I personally would rather put the money towards remodeling things around the house.

  • Nope!! Not here, either. DH and haven't purchased Christmas gifts for each other since the first year we were dating.

We have a joint bank account, so all the money comes from the same place, so rather than tell him what I want and have him go get it, if there are things that either of us want/need throughout the year, we just discuss it then go buy it ourselves...same as you.

we buy for family but that's it...I don't expect anything this year, either.

  • Same here. DH and I never do gifts for each other for any occasion (Christmas, birthdays, Valentines Day, etc). We just discuss and purchase things that we want throughout the year.

  • We don't exchange gifts either.  We buy bigger things, like a tv or computer, for the family instead.

  • We don't really exchange either.  We usually just buy something together for the house.  Like this year, we are the proud new owners of a china cabinet that's going to be delivered right before the holidays.  We'd rather buy stuff for our home that we both can enjoy.

  • I think we're doing stockings this year for eachother, but not really gifts.  We're still in the process of buying a house, so I'd rather see us save the money for that.
  • No gifts between us two.
We pretty much buy anything we want when we want it anyway. For Christmas we'll usually wander the mall together and each pick out something new we each like, just to feel a bit more festive.

On Boxing Day we'll go out together and get a 'family' gift, usually something expensive we've been looking at for a while (ex: new tv, laptop etc)

  • We aren't doing gifts this year. I don't want anything, and what we really need is diapers, formula, and daycare money!

  • We normally do but this year we are filling each others stockings and taking a little getaway just the two of us. Were just going up to the mountains and relaxing in the hot springs for a weekend with a nice dinner so thats our present to each other. We got his parents to come and baby sit which they live 2 hours away. Were going in January because Dec is too busy and Feb the price goes double because of Valentines.
  • We don't, like you if we would want something during the year we typically get it or save up then get it. And I agree people think it is werid. We buy christmas gifts for the little kids in my family ( which is my 6 brothers all under 15 ) and my cousin who is 8. Otherwise we don't even buy for the adults-after a while you don't know who to buy for or not and you have to stop some place espically if you have big families. So we only buy for the young kids and leave it at that. We are just going to buy ds one big thing since he can't really open anything, and maybe do more next year since he will actually know what christmas is. It is about the children anyways.
