I may have the opportunity proposed to either transfer to the greater Cleveland area or move to the north eastern Orlando suburbs. Please give me your thoughts and opinions on the Lake Mary/ Winter Park area of Florida.
Hubby grew up near there and says that the buildings are older brick buildings and the area has a small-town feel to it with small shops nearby. It's also not too far from the theme-parks, but not so close that it takes away from the small-town feel. It's a nice area.

Oh, forget about Disney and warm weather, come back to Cleveland! I'm now working with the Clinic's Autism School. OK, I'd choose warm weather and Disney as well. Glad there's an opportunity for you to maybe get away from the IL's. What does James think?
DH lived in O-town for many years, my BFF lived there for several years and I live 1.5 hours from there. O-town itself kinda sucks to live in - very touristy and traffic just sucks big time. BUT - Winter Park is VERY cute and very quaint. I don't think I've been to Lake Mary, but DH says it's nice. So if you move (fingers crossed) just make sure you don't live IN Orlando or have to drive through it to get to work.

Ditto this, it's true it has an old charm feel to it (unless you choose a newer developed area, your choice) but has a peaceful and relaxed feel to it.....nicer people too, much more than further South, thus why *I* want to move to Tampa! My BF moved to Clermont a few years back and has never regretted it. It can get cold, by FL standards, but will only dip into the 30's a few days out of the year, nothing lower and not longer. In certain areas, it can be hilly as well, which is kinda cool. Let me know if you need anything, I'll be more than happy to help in any way.

Lake Mary is actually very nice. they have a great sprint triathlon on the lake every year - the father of a friend of mine from vet school lives on the lake so we would all crash there and do the race every year through vet school. Otherwise, there are some nice parts of Orlando but most of it is a pit - it's like the Las Vegas of Florida.
I spent my tortured adolescence in central Florida. I lived in Longmont/ Altamonte Springs. I hated it so much I refuse to return to Florida to this day. I'm sorry, I know that's not very positive.

You know how I feel about you moving to Orlando....

We hope to move back to FL in the next year or so - so I vote Florida!
Pls - no ILs for you in FL.
Winter Park is nice, Lake Mary is okay.
